Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't see Mendy being the answer at Chelsea. He'll cost them games.

Lampard is more dislikable than Jose so good result.
Is this the new Godwin's law? I mean if you want to insult someone I can think of no better person to compare them with than Jose. He left the pitch yesterday to watch one of his players poo, apparently.

Just noticed that Lloris was off his line for every penalty last night. Obviously no VAR there but if it goes wide in the PL and the keeper is off the line is that a retake?

Next Man City manager: You lot may all be internationals and have won all the domestic honours there are to win under Pep. But as far as I'm concerned, the first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals and all your caps and all your pots and all your pans into the biggest **** dustbin you can find, because you've never won any of them fairly. You've done it all by bloody cheating.

I seen Wer er didn't take a peno last night because of cramp what kind of crap excuse is that he was able to stay on and run arpund but not take a peno?

Same fella came off once away in the championss league because the crowd was too loud,
Not sure if pressure is his thing

They love to give big teams a scare and indeed beat them.

Lazy enough analysis this. Chelsea had used all their subs, he had to stay on. All three were used before Spurs scored.
As for not taking one being some indication of him no taking pressure, would you rather he took it with cramp? Can Mané not take pressure given he didn’t take a penalty in the Charity Shield final? He’s taken far more important kicks than a penalty in the Carabao cup

Also he came off in Istanbul because he suffers from Vertigo and it triggered dizziness. He tried to stay on with earplugs but couldn’t. Again would you rather he just stayed on ill and adding nothing?

Weirdly strong team from Pep, with Laporte, Fernandinho, Rodri, De Bruyne, Sterling and Mahrez all starting. Of those I’d have only expected Mahrez and Rodri to be in consideration, but I guess Pep is setting this competition high in his priorities once again. Still no place for Bernardo Silva, who Pep clearly now just hates for some reason.

    Pens between Newport and Newcastle

And absolutely no one is surprised by Joelinton missing one...

    City 1 up against Burnley.

Think Brighton get the better of United this game. They'll want serious payback after the last game.

Either that or United will have learned and steamroll but I doubt it

Brighton's lineup looks solid at the back, but hard to see where the goals would come from. Reckon United will win it by one or two.

    City 1 up against Burnley.

Burnley are so stuck for players maybe Owen Coyle might get a game now after playing for their reserves about 10 years ago.

Not with that line up. Doubt they were arsed about getting payback either. Doesn’t seem in Potter’s nature.

All but game over now for United’s B-side

Yeh didn't even look at the line up at the time. United cruise it.

It's going to be a long hard season for Fulham fans.

I'd imagine Brentford will have some big offers for Benrahma in the next few days.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

FT 3-0, Said Benrahma still at Fulham doing the business, they are in the quarters for the first time.

Arsenal Reserves make up the final 8 after a penalty shootout.

Enjoyed that. Well done, Arsenal. Some of those Liverpool pens were quite sloppy.

    When's the draw ?

Stoke city v spurs first out of the hat. I'll talk that all day long as a spurs man!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I like that draw. Arsenal vs City looks the pick of them but Everton vs United will be tough to call too. Brentford will fancy their chances against Newcastle considering how they've done so far. Mourinho will fancy his chances of a semi-final.

Looks like Pep is doing the usual and going all out for a League Cup win. Very strong team named, aside from in goal. Strong enough team named by Arsenal too, but hard to see past a City win.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

To steal the old BBC phrase about worrying about teams but looking at the starting XI's I'd worry about Arsenal's chances tonight.

Brentford made more changes than Newcastle did tonight and went through, who said Steve Bruce didn't still have that magic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,912 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

    That didn’t take City long.

This is going to be 6 or 7 nil.

    DT should pre-book an ambulance.

Good header by Lacazette tbf. Very sleepy by Laporte who kinda showed why he's been dropped lately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Oof, huge chance wasted there by Jesus... had be aiming to keepers left, the goal was gaping, but just put it right at him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Hugely damaging if this is another setback for Martinelli after being perhaps rushed back into the starting lineup too soon.

    <edit>
Back on to finish out the last few minutes of the half at least, hopefully not too bad. Be surprised to see him come out in the second half though.

He got some whack....shin pad was moved to the back of his leg to his calf.

Hope he comes out for the second half...exciting player to watch
