Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Folks,

Considering jumping from VF this year for FTTC conneciton (pending upgrade to FTTH in the coming months)

Some questions however if anyone can help:

    1. Is the new Sky Broadband Hub good? The reviews out there suggest that its got great coverage and back to 4 gigabit ethernet ports? (note I am not talking about the Sky Q Hub)

    2. How fair are sky on upgrading the line... ie when FTTH is available in my area (currently its being cabled for it) will sky allow me to upgrade at a reasonable price or will they attempt to gouge?

Any other thoughts or providers I should consider? Eir is pants I believe? Digiweb and the others seem a tad pricey?

    Thanks,
    Fionn

Another question, does sky offer Open Eir's FTTH or is it just Siro's offering?

Thanks I’ll ring them later and switch to them if they can assure me I can upgrade once the fibre in my area is switched on.

    i have sky ftth.

the hub is muck, cant use your own dns easly.

    https://www.sky.com/ireland/broadband-talk/sky-hub/

its only got 2 ports , and one is for the ethernet from the ont box, so leaves you with one port, a cheap 8 port switch is nessary.

the wifi is quite poof on it, unless you have sky multi room , then the qbox can act as a repeter, but again, not great.

As for reliablity, ive had no issues whatsoever with the service satblity, and have been with them for 18+ months.

You have the old hub so. The new one is supposed to be much much better and has the usual 4 gigabit ports. Reviews are quite positive. Also sky added back the ability to change the dns.

I am getting sky to agree to sending me the new modem upfront before I sign up.

Found it the other day googling don’t have it to hand.

Sadly sky won’t give me the new hub until I have ftth which is stupid. Don’t know what to do now. Maybe just stay with VF
