What I can read from this, correct me if I'm wrong. If you are in another EU country and call back home to Ireland it's free as in your package. But if you call a number in the country that you are in it's charged as a local call not an international call?

    Hi lads.

Im currently on tesco mobile trying to port over to 48.

When i enter my 48 security code and click "move my number to 48", the 48 logo spins a few times but nothing happens.

Any ideas how to sort this lads?

Does the new 48 sim need to be in the phone to port over?

    Thanks guys

Unless 48 have some different rules,

when roaming all calls made to any EU country from the country you are in are included, mobile or landline.

Probably a silly question but I've never left a bill pay provider before. With Vodafone until contract expires on 22nd October Want to make sure I'm not charged for any period after that. Should I give 30 days notice and port over circa 22nd September or just wait and port out on 22/10? Sick of paying them 60 a month so want to make sure I don't owe them anything I don't need to while also not paying for two providers at once!

Even when you are out of Contract you need to give them 30 days notice. The best way is to port your number 30 days before you contract ends this is effectually giving them 30 days notice. I know you will be paying 48 the same time you will be paying your final bill with Vodafone. Hope this helps

Might be worth paying the 7.99 and trying out 48 for a while before leaving Vodafone. You might find 48 coverage crap in your area. If your happy with 48 you can move, if not you could move to a cheaper Vodafone plan or move to post phone they're on the Vodafone network.
I'm in Tuam and am getting poor enough speeds on 48.

This is what I am doing at present. I have virgin fibre wifi at home so the fact I am only getting 2meg is not an issue. It is only for when I am out. Depending on where I am, I am seeing 30 meg in some places.

I just ordered a sim for someone in the country. They can test the data signal with the free 1gig starter allowance. This should tell her if it is suitable for her LTE modem.

Anyone experiencing delays porting from GoMo?
I initiated the port at 5.50pm.
Got the code and my48 is still saying port in progress now at 10.20pm.

Is it just a case of doing it too late in the day and may happen in the morning?

Their website say to port between 8am and 6pm, so you could've been too late. It should swap over in the morning though

My dad is on the 10 euro eir prepay plan offering unlimited calls - for 28 days

He doesn't text or use data
    The 7.99 is better value
International calls are cheaper on eir
    (UK 10c)
Still 7.99 is a good deal

Just dial 171. The Voicemail button in the Phone app is for Visual Voicemail, which I don't think is supported outside the states.

No the button works as a call to 171. Has worked this way since the beginning on previous networks.

Ah ok, I never used it previously on other networks. But just tried it there on 48 and I can confirm it doesn't do anything for me either. Calling 171 works fine though.

Maybe try reset Network Settings? But this will also wipe all saved WiFi passwords so you may not want to do that.

I got a free SIM to try out, seems a little slower than GoMo in Cork city centre. My phone is dual sim so these are from the same place a few mins apart.

    GoMo:

    48:

I've tried it a few times & GoMo has always come out on top in my house.

    Just joined 48.

The port went smoothly enough, but I can't buy a membership - getting some error about already having a bundle.

I contacted Help via chat and the rep deleted the bundle that came with the SIM. Told me to give it 2 hours and try again, which I have and it's still not working.

Strange way to start out with new customers i.e they won't take your money

I’m 4 hours on this package now in Dublin city and north Dublin and I can confirm reception is like night and day when compared to GoMo in my use case.

    48 are miles ahead.

Just tried to order a sim for the third time.
Looks like after i enter my eircode the address that comes back is missing the town.
It doesnt let me correct the address. If I try to correct it it greys out the submit button and i cant order.
Anyone else have this? They should let you at least put in the correct address.

If you're house is numbered then this won't work but if you have a non-unique address then try entering a few eircodes from your vicinity and you might just hit on the correct address. The eircode is not printed on the address label.

Same for my area, west Dublin, where I'm finding GoMo better than 48.
In fact 48 has only been the same or worse, but never better than GoMo. And when GoMo is better it can be like 20x faster (might have been an area near an Eir mast). I've also noticed bad latency on 48/Three (not good if you need for mobile gaming). Also worse upload speed on 48 compared to GoMo. This might suggest network congestion?

Anyhow horses for courses, some may experience the complete opposite!

Any one have problems with porting?
I put in a request on Saturday for the port and it still hasnt happened and the webchat are useless. They have done an escalation which they say will take 5 days.
Great deal but probably wont bother with this hassle.

Duh! By that measure no provider would give you lists of calls. Some people have uses for call listings.

Trying to port over to Eir temporarily after receiving free sim in post, then port back to 48 for this offer.

However there is no option for 48 as current network when using Eir's online porting function.
Currently on hold to Eir and going to see if they can port me over on the phone.

Have 5 of these sims at home ordered months ago. I thought they would be handy for Vodafone regular porting offers or just spares. I was on 48 and moved back to VF nearly 2 months ago. I thought the fiver extra for Vodafone signal reliability would be worth it, but in truth I've never had an issue with 48 previously. €12 a month is a bit more significant though!!

Could I use one of those sims to port back over to get this deal when my monthly top up runs out next week? Or are there restrictions with previous customers

I dont think any prepay providers give you that info m8, I think thats only on bill pay as you get an actual/online bill with the calls and texts breakdown.
