    hey D4eeee
I'm not long on bikes myself but i grew up with them (usually in pieces, both my dad and uncle were massive into rebuilding bikes)
I can come along at some point to have a look at the bike if someone isn't able too.

You will usually find someone though, have you a link to it?

If the mileage is genuine and it hasn't been dropped them it should be a great bike especially reliability wise as it's a Honda....

Just make sure do a history on it and UK one too.
Look for damage under the covers and you should know then it's good or bad.
LF66 KMK is the reg on the key.

Wonder is it still on UK plates also so vrt price may come into it.

I already run check on it. There is no history in Uk, it was exported b4 it hit 3 years in England(mot after 3 years). Its reg in ROI.

no you may confuse my question i dont think it comes out of the factory with a white rear wheel and a black front one. Which leads me to believe there has been an accident with this bike. Why would someone replace 1 wheel? or change the colour of 1 wheel ?

If your new to bikes get a quote on it first. Consider an unfaired bike too, less to damage if you drop it. Most popular beginner bikes would be naked.

Otherwise there's lots of checklists online for buying bikes and I use them all the time. Anyone who doesn't know bikes could look over a bike with the list.

Looks to me it's been on its side with them marks on the casing. Maybe a low side.

Radiator looks like it could do with a clean.

scrapes are not bothering me(nothing 2 serious). RUST is, and is absolutly everywhere. on every weld, even under the sit cover ect.... it this normal?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,957 ✭✭✭✭GBX

That's quite a bit! With that amount of rust on it first thing I'm thinking is parked beside the seaside, constantly near salt water.

    that's the thing . i wanna buy a bike not a project......

Salty roads or seaside in the UK and not washed afterwards. That's alot of rust for the age tbh.

    ..... And... The mileage....

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,245 ✭✭✭goblin59

    i'd stay away from that,
i wouldn't like that much rust on my bicycle never mind a motorcycle.

If your instinct is there's a lot of rust I'd stay clear. Hard to tell by the pics but the bits you've shown are either very easily cleaned and polished or could be rotting through. The joints in the exhaust are normally the weak point. Bikes do rust though without being a total lemon. It has been down, no doubt, but doesn't look like a bad one.

Have you much experience of driving a motorbike?

That bike looks like it has been parked outside a lot.
Rust spots on chrome stanchions can polish out easily with some steel wool and WD40, its mostly outside the swept area of the seals so not too bad.

You might have a tough time getting insured on a sportsbike as your first bike policy, doubly so if you are on a learner permit - I'd recommend ringing up the insurance companies before buying just so you know you can get insured/it's not gonna be prohibitively expensive.
