It was a harmless debate, Biden came close to getting so flustered that it looked concerning.

Changed nothing and may only serve to push turnout down.

Hardly the very beginning stages of a civil war?

I think Biden was a lot better than I expected. One thing that shined through for me is Biden's use "shut up man" and "keep yapping man". The American people are generally very respectful of titles and often refer to cops as officer and the president as Mr president.

People here are commenting on the fact Biden said "shut up" but my American colleagues are commenting on the fact that Biden referred to the president as "man". I thought it was brilliant. Throughout his whole political career Trump has shown no respect for disabled people, politicians, doctors, scientists, women and anyone who wasn't white. He doesn't deserve respect back and Biden demonstrated that perfectly.

As if you expect us to believe that!

Keep the lies coming, Trump would be proud!

who can tell what the looney left will believe.

Heck they believed a MAGA wearing teenager called Nick Sandman was harrassing native americans and that cost them $250 million ..

Doesnt matter to me whether you believe me or not that my republican friends are telling me their democrats friends are looking for gun advice. I made a nice chunk of change betting on this, betting Democrats would flood the gun shops and buy all the RGR, SWBI and OLN they could get.

What part of the states are you from?

A lot of republicans are supporting Biden. Not a good look for the GOP right now. https://www.nytimes.com/article/republicans-voting-for-biden-not-trump.html

Some are supporting him, the rest are probably just remaining tight lipped

I was honestly surprised to learn that Trump has a debate prep team.

The best team like unbelievable the greatest team ever period best team you have ever seen work so hard and look at everything strongly

Speaking of Republicans supporting Biden, I wonder will Paul Ryan endorse anyone.

If he endorses Biden then there isn’t a chance Trump wins Wisconsin. If he endorses Trump then Wisconsin will narrow up substantially.

Think I will go with the FBI over a compulsive liar like Trump.
Will you go with the FBI when they say that the proud boys are not white supremacists?

Trump appealed to his base, but I doubt he will have won over voters outside his base with that performance. If that's enough for him to get elected then it doesn't matter, but i don't think it will be. You could say the debate was like two kids shouting at each other in schoolyard. Some neutrals might form the view that it is a bad reflection on America if these two are the best they can do. Trump and Biden supporters will no doubt disagree

I see he mentioned Antifa, but most media are leading with the so called threat from white supremacists.

Can you imagine if white groups were carrying on like BLM and Antifa have been this summer. People would be howling from the roof tops. Something very off and sinister about the topics the media are choosing to push.

Are you expecting the residents of this thread to actually research any of the beliefs they strongly hold?! Shame on you.

The main takeaway seems to be Trump refusing to condemn white supremacy.

    Not a good look.

Are there Biden supporters? Is it not more like "Anybody but Trump and this guy seems reasonably harmless"?

The dementia brigade have gone very quiet today?

Weird, isn't it? Obvious cognitive decline, drugs and a concealed earpiece were ENORMOUS issues and would be a campaign-ending scandal for Biden.

And instead, today's hot talking points:
    • He outrageously used the word "clown" against the POTUS a man (who routinely insults people while he is POTUS).
    • Biden turned and faced the camera to make an emotional plea to the voters which was cheating, apparently. (The sincerity of the moment is open to question in my opinion, but that is another matter).
    • Wallace tricked Trump in to telling the Proud Boys to ease off the trigger finger.
    Have I missed anything?

Biden could be a Senator for either for the Democrats or Republicans.

That nebulous nature helps appeal to many, his long history of being the Finance industry's go to Senator has opened up incredible levels of donations.

Yet, for all that, he has a serious enthusiasm gap.

    Enough might not bother voting.

Any evidence he was ever a Republican supporter or shares any of their values?

    Trump on the otherhand:
Trump registered as a Republican in Manhattan in 1987 and since that time has changed his party affiliation five times. In 1999, Trump changed his party affiliation to the Independence Party of New York. In August 2001, Trump changed his party affiliation to Democratic. In September 2009, Trump changed his party affiliation back to the Republican Party. In December 2011, Trump changed to "no party affiliation" (independent). In April 2012, Trump again returned to the Republican Party.[4]

In a 2004 interview, Trump told CNN's Wolf Blitzer: "In many cases, I probably identify more as Democrat," explaining: "It just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans. Now, it shouldn't be that way. But if you go back, I mean it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats...But certainly we had some very good economies under Democrats, as well as Republicans. But we've had some pretty bad disaster under the Republicans."[5] In a July 2015 interview, Trump said that he has a broad range of political positions and that "I identify with some things as a Democrat."[4]

But you're right about people being turned off voting after last night.
