Imagine if Hamilton deliberately crashed out to make it a safety car finish to spite everyone.

He has a record of finishes has he not? it was podiums, but that looks like finishing - i could be making that up though, have faint memories of mentions of it in recent times.

Gasly will be the first french winner since Monaco 1996 if he wins? Sainz first Spanish since Spain 2013?

Fair play to Gasly. Did it well there from the front, didn't panic.

Particularly looking forward to Hamilton pissing and moaning, toys will be thrown.

If anyone deserved to win a race this year it was Gasly. He has been great to watch this season.

I’m glad for Italians everywhere that they get the podium anthem at least

This is what we have been missing.

The emotion on the radio from the winners of a hard fought battle, a photo finish, some genuine excitement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

Gasly screaming on the radio in delight.
Sainz on the verge of tears for just missing out on the win

Hamilton a few weeks ago "was that the chequered flag?" He was so bored.

I know what kind of race I'd like to watch

Ah lads, what a race. On the absolute edge of my seat for the last 10 laps. Unbelievable drive by Gasly, delighted for him!!

Its great to see the excitment at the podium. All the hugging and happiness.

Delighted for Gasly, he deserved this win after showing serious character since losing his Red Bull drive

F1 needed this podium without any Mercedes/Red Bull/Ferrari on it

I think the Pink Mercedes might have a (Racing) point to prove this weekend, and as much as we mock Stroll constantly he has had a front row start here.

They certainly made that Racing Point.

    This too shall pass.

I don't think he was bored, he reckons he was in the zone much like Senna desribed of himself at Monaco in 1988.

He has equalled Michael Schumacher's record of consecutive points finishes today.

Hamilton straight over to Gasly to congratulate him before the cry babies try to suggest it never happened.

    Thrilled for Gasly.

Very harshly treated by Red Bull and had a really tough year as a result.

A win today and is pound-for-pound surely the driver of the season so far.

    Well maybe not bored
But he was so far ahead the idea that we would be passed our even under the slightest bit of pressure was nowhere in his mind.

Mad that it’s the first French winner since Panis in 1996

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 407 ✭✭tipp_tipp_tipp

Super impressed with Gasly, don't think he put a wheel wrong with all the pressure at the end. Was waiting for him to lock a wheel and miss one of the chicanes. Is having a great season, seems to be mentally in a very place at the moment.

Delighted for Gasly and that we got a decent race for a change. Just shows what we’re missing out on when one team is so dominant.

Last time there was a French and Italian national anthem on the podium was at Montreal in 1995. Alesi and Ferrari.

Is 12 years and on the same circuit some sort of record between victories for the same team even if the name has changed?
