I think the Junta must go NOW

I don't think you know what a Junta is. Or perhaps even what NPHET is for that matter.

Shut down the gravy train, they have caused untold damage to this country with their outrageous scaremongering and quite frankly bonkers recommendations that our government lapped up and forced on the people. We are a changed country due to this shower, my anger at them is profound to say the least.

Maybe we should let people like the woman who threw her coffee at Varadkar today run the country. She showed the type of leadership we all need.

Of course if we actually lived in the sort of socialist paradise she no doubt aspires to she would have been given a fair trial and a first class execution by now. And if we lived in the sort of right wing state many of the anti-maskers aspire to she would have been gunned down as she approached the park he was in.

So to be honest if that's the alternative to NPHET I vote for keeping what we have.

Let's stop listening to scientific advice. That approach has worked really well in other countries so far.

My local alchemist has a cure consisting of iron ore, pine nuts and urine he has had great success with. Only 75% of those treated die.

    I think you’re wrong.

They are a medical Junta that are abusing emergency powers to suit their idiological purposes. They have ceased power of the state against our emasculated government.

They are talking about restrictions for the next two years.

I support things like todays restrictions announcement in Dublin but this cant go on for another two years.

    They have ceased power .

They sure have ceased all power they had.

It’ll go on until we have a vaccine and there’s nothing anybody can do about that. It’s frustrating maybe even soul destroying but we may just get on with it.

I think Sweden will be proven right in the end.

2 years of this will see many lives destroyed and many people miss cancer diagnosis.

Sweden has had the highest death rate outside normal for the population in 150 years.
and that is just for the FIRST six months of the year
Their death rate is now equivalent to the 1860's - but nothing to do with COVID, total coincidence.

I wouldn't be surprised if NPHET in the next meeting introduce special powers so they can run the country. They could potentially start a coup and take control the nation indefinitely

i have been absolutely flabbergasted at the level of surprise and concern from NPHET about the rise in the number of cases after the lockdown was lifted. The number of cases were always going to rise, in proportion to the level of reopening.
What exactly did they expect to happen?? no increase? if so, why woudl they expect that?

Not to mention opening the schools and more testing , of course cases will increase - But I guess the majority of NPHET are not too concerned about paying ther rent before Christmas , or arranging Christmas with little or no money, terrified of becomingh homeless - When you have little or no money your priorites change , they have caused a massive depression in Dublin city, in ther today , and no one around the city centre . Shame.

you understand how a virus works yea?
It does not care about your rent, or a publicans livelihood, or Van Morrison or anyone, social distance, hand hygiene and face masks, if a event, a social event, gaa or athletic event needs to be canceled then so be it, you really dont understand the world you now live in. this is reality for the next 3/4 years , enjoy !!

NPHET have no actual direct power. They issue advice to the government who decide how to interpret and act on that advice.

Ronan Glynn - seems like a nice lad. Studied Physio, decided to do medicine after. Focused on Oncology (cancer) . Married an RTE presenter, a good quality civil servant in the HSE. He knows how to get up the ladder at the HSE. Seems do be doing the what he thinks is right.

Anders Tegnell - Doctor who specialised in infectious diseases all his life - hands on experience with Ebola, Swine Flu and countless infectious diseases. He's Sweden's chief epidemiologist and is calling the shots nationally. More senior role than Dr. Glynn by all counts.

While Sweden has seen slightly elevated death rates vs. their closest neighbours like Norway, their liberties and livelihoods haven't been impacted (directly) and are doing better (as times passes). Like all other countries, those dying come from in the elderly (approx 83 mean age) with comorbidity in practically all cases.

Swedish advice: Maintain hygiene, work from home, practice social distancing when you can, while those over 70 and those high risk should elf-isolate as a precaution.

Irish advice: 5 level system, with .25 increments. decided by an arbitrary list of reasons we will determine along the way.

If you leave Dublin (we advice you don't, but it's not enforceable) then that's OK, but only it it's from these green list countries. However next month we will have a new system. Also you can have 50 in a room for x, 6 in a room for y but only if Charlie knows Nora.

We always worried this virus would evolve into a worse strain. Well it has.... it's now an Irish public sector strain of COVID-19.
