    oh right i thought it was a bulk buy of one type of bean

    when i said filter v espresso i didn't mean the grind i meant the type of coffee

    some roasteries do have filter and espresso beans or blends or roasts not just a grind size

    Might be worth doing a poll when the time rolls around if we're going to go with one type of bean. Anyone with a moka pot or cheaper espresso set up might not get great results out of a light roast if they don't drink filter.

    I'd love to try a few from FriedHats (they're €20 delivery even for 250g so a group buy would be great!) but the likes of La Cabra could be good as I think they roast all as omniroast so should work for most people. Anyway, happy to roll with the group decision ultimately

    What about a delivery from the US? Intelligentsia or Stumptown maybe... There's a superb Scandinavian road test either.

    Always wanted to give Intelligentsia a go. I think it was done on one of the previous group buys? I'd be up for that

    One other thought.... given the level of interest here.... I wonder if some of the Irish roasters would be willing to do a 'boards' discount on a standing regular basis. Either a discount off subscriptions or once off orders or whatever.

    Budget 40e-55e for a kilo of coffee and you'll probably not be to far out. That's a rough guess obviously and will depend on where we get it from and shipping costs.

    Was gonna make a few suggestions of roasters. A few of these we've done group buys from before, the others I've picked from last years sprudge awards.

    from that list I'm going to say I'd prefer Dear Green

    as it's my first time organising this I'd prefer an easy communication channel and native english would be my preferred option there

    can I ask people who were involved before - how was the coffee distributed by the person who took delivery, or was it just sent to multiple addresses by the roasters?

    The consignment was always sent in one batch and distributed either by collection at the organisers house, a Dublin coffee shop or shipped on within Ireland via On-Post.

    We used to get together and have a coffee and a matter but that ain't possible at the moment obviously. Where are you located roughly? Some people might be able to collect or you could divide up and ship on...

    If we are going with Scotland it may be possible/practical to have them ship individually. Maybe pop them an email and ask....

    ok thanks for that detail I'm north dublin close to the D7/11/15 area

    I don't mind being a distro point either way - how was the coffee packaged for sending onward/collection?
