Smell Odour

Hi Folks been having an issue for a while now two different spots on lawn,down

But one in particular the grass has gone Patchy, and when u dig the surface or stay over it long enough you get this Bad Rotten Eggs Sulfur Smell, Soil is black looks like Oil,

Is this a Drainage Issue

Friend of mine suggested digging the area 24 inches long 18 inches Deep and put some Chippings stones in it then cover the Gravel with soil and eventually resurface with roll lawn

Any help appreciated complete novice

If the soil has a rotten odor, including traces of sulfur or ammonia, then the most likely cause is that too much water gathers in the soil.

Were U watering it a lot ?

Id say its a Drainage Issue

so i dug the area today went down about 18 inches this blue layer was just on top and in a square area of 18 inches underneath was just normal soil no water
