Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The fact that TG4 are showing this game and not RTE shows that no one is taking it seriously.

Or maybe its the fact that TG4 hold the rights to broadcast it and RTE don't !

Second string Ulster side but should be more than enough to absolutely destroy that rabble that Leinster have selected.

    Ulster by 60.

I watched Murray Kinsella's and Sean Holley's preview of tomorrow's final. They threw out some very interesting stats. When Leinster get into the opposition 22 they score points 61% of the time compared to Ulsters's 22%.

And when Leinster are defending in their 22 they stop trys being scored 78% of the time compared to Ulster's 37%.

On defence in general they highlighted how selective Leinster are in commuting players to the breakdown. 54% of the time they have 14 players on their feet in defence compared to Ulster's 32% They're very quick to tackle, get back on their feet and fold around in defence. They'd rather have a defensive line spread across the field than compete for a ball on the deck. Ulster are the opposite.

On that evidence you'd think Leinster should win this game. They've a tighter defence and a more efficient attack. But if you look at the penalty stats since the restart Leinster have conceded 12 more than Ulster. They're finding it especially tricky to not infringe at the ruck on their own attacking ball. 14 of their penalties conceded since the restart have come when they were in attacking positions. Haven't adapted at all well to the new interpretations. If Ulster can punch a hole in Leinster's defence and keep their discipline at the breakdown they've a great chance at winning.

My understanding is this occurs when a ruck is so under resourced, you could drive a bus through it.

But with their best goal kickers on the bench are they potentially missing a trick to capitalise on this?

It used to be the 'hopeless' players and coaches we signed that killed the team....:D

I now don't expect anything, just hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Beautiful, bright day in Dublin. Bit blustery. Perfect conditions for attacking rugby and keeping it in hand.

Ive a feeling Ulster are going to give this a good go.
    Like last years 1/4 final.

Guessing that Ulster are 100% focused on this week & Leinster are 100% focused on European Cup.

    21 v 18 again!

    Leinster 32 - 13 Ulster

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

One score game in Leinster's favour. Have a feeling there's gonna be a moment of magic from the Ulster back three at some point to score a try.

    He's massive.

    Lowe done fairly easily there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,723 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

That was shocking stuff from Lowe.

    Great start for Ulster
    Lowe did very poor there

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

    Brilliant try.

I have a bad feeling about this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

Just a litany of sloppiness from Leinster. Don't look focused at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,870 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

    Lowry not calling the mark.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,222 ✭✭✭crisco10

Lots of sloppiness so far from Leinster

    What a start to this.

He mightn't be able to tackle but he knows where the try line is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,723 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Hopefully that'll bring down Ulster's spirits a bit.

Gibson park loves that pass. Good for it in most games

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭A-Train

    Much better play from Leinster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

The phases leading up to that try were Leinster's best since the restart

Indeed, real sense of relentless inevitability about that.

Absolutely robotic inevitability about that passage.

Ulster are here to play though. They showed great defence at times in the first half against Edinburgh. They're let down by individual errors. But that was just a relentless march from Leinster.

    Bench will have a say.

Mathewson's box kicks are an absolute nightmare for our back three, every single one has been perfect so far in terms of contestability

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭A-Train

    Lol MILES forward

I was wondering was I the only one to see that

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Ulster had the overlap if Coetzee had passed. Would have been through the hands for a walk in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Very impressive from Ulster. Leinster s defence is generally excellent if you give them.a split second to set. But the offloads keep us retreating and bit able to make a proper line.

  • Registered Users Posts: 681 ✭✭✭Pelezico

What's with the weird language for commentary?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,222 ✭✭✭crisco10

Henshaw has to smash mccloskey there and he did. Walk in try otherwise.

Ulster attack looking good. So much quick ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,870 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

    Good game so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Huge hit from Kelleher to force that penalty.

Mathewson gives Ulster a dimension they haven't had since Pienaar in his pomp. He's looking tired already though. Almost 35 and bugger all rugby in 2020 is showing.

3 out of 4 or 5 line outs for Leinster have been a mess

    Herring off, shoulder injury?
