    Josimar.

As above a great strike where the other would have been saved 99 times out of a hundred.

Both keepers should have done better, but Josimar was the more difficult shot

    Ronaldinho 2-3 Josimar

Alessandro Del Piero (Italy vs France, 2006)

    VS

Benjamin Pavard (France vs Argentina, 2018)

    Del Piero

Cannavaro charging like a lion, Totti with the vision of an eagle, Del Piero galloping like a leopard, Gilardino more aware than a God.

Pavard is a great strike, but Im going to vote Del Piero, a more complete goal and amazing skill on the finish.

Possible darkhorse to win the contest

Del Piero. Already said why - extra time in a semi final, great counter, reverse pass, top corner.

    Pavard

Love both goals but that technique

    Del Piero

From the tenacious cannavaro to the visionary Totti... Then Gilardino's sumptuous no look pass... And that finish.

    No contest really.

    Pavard.

Glorius strike at a time when france were in trouble.

Del piero goal was fantastic but the germans were pouring forward after grossos goal.

    Just under 10 minutes left

Del piero the counter the vision to set him up and the finish

    Del Piero.
The perfect counter, great movement from all involved.

    Del Piero

    Del Piero 8-4 Pavard

Would have to agree that Del Piero's is a thing of beauty. Have never really thought about it before but it's unreal. Next match I think should be pretty straight forward but you never know.

Michael Owen (England vs Argentina, 1998)

    VS

James Rodriguez (Colombia vs Uruguay, 2014)

    James Rodriguez.
Perfect technique, finishing it all in one movement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,496 ✭✭✭ArnoldJRimmer

Brilliant run and goal by Owen, but The technique by James is outrageous, so he gets my vote. And of course bonus style points for the crossbar

Rodriguez.. maybe the perfect goal, getting the extra style points for turn, chest and crossbar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,601 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

Owen, marginally. The touch, the trickery, the anticipation, the finish. Though Rodriguez's goal wouldn't break my heart by going through.

Absolutely shocked that Carlos Alberto was knocked out by that Maxi strike - madness IMO.

    Owen

Just eighteen, great first touch, accelerated ball control and finish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

Just a head's up that this is the last match of the evening, result will be announced later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 617 ✭✭✭afro man

Owen just based on confidence and finish for an 18year old in a world Cup..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,369 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Taking nothing away from the owen goal, first touch was brilliant, rest of it was kinda boring.
Rodi has it all, control, strike, crossbar, whats not to like.

    Voting Rodi
