    Bergkamp.

Everything about it. The vision from De Boer, the quality of the pass. Bergkamp's run, the first touch to kill it, the second tough to give himself space and then a finish with the outside of the right foot. Magic.

Vote James. Sick of the Bergkamp love. He beat Maradona's classic v England. That was a disgrace. Shocking defending by Ayala. If I were there, I would have calmly nudged the Dutchman off the ball, poked the ball through his legs and jogged out of defence to launch a stinging counter attack-all with the minimum of fuss.

At least Rabbi Keane is out. I score better goals in Sunday League week-in/week-out when I move up from the sweeper position and that's no lie.

You would in your hoop :D

I'd have volleyed it into the other goal from there, and be awarded a hat trick for it being so good.

Dennis, amazing touch and finish, super goal

    Me>Roberto Ayala.

I was offered trials at big clubs across the globe but turned them all down to focus on forum games.

James goal is a lot more dynamic in the build up and execution.

Shocking defending for Bergkamps. He could have had a smoke and a pancake in between touches he was left alone so long.

    James.

Bergkamp's goal has the grace of a mountain goat perched on a mountaintop.

James' goal has the grace of an elephant perched on a mountaintop.

    Vote Bergkamp

I'm just saying that if the elephant can get up there, he must be pretty graceful.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,690 ✭✭✭✭Skylinehead

A Chinook heavy-lift helicopter struggled to get him there.

    Didn't go well.

Everyone loves Bergkamp's goal around here. I think it's obvious what's going to win the tournament. Boo.

Some great responses in that match. Have we seen our winner? Coming up, we have two outstanding efforts from the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Which golazo is your choice for the semi-final though?
Maxi Rodriguez (Argentina vs Mexico, 2006)

    VS

Alessandro Del Piero (Italy vs France, 2006)

We know your feelings from last time. Bit in bold is interesting though :p

I'm exiting this thread like Maradona exited to Bergkamp. If that was 'sloppy defending' by England then what do you call the defending by Ayala? Ridiculous voting by you numpties.:P

I needed to come back to save the tournament.

    Delboy. Cool team goal.

Del piero.. The burst out of defence. Midfield pass.. The no look pass on edge of box and the class finish

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Both excellent goals, I'll go Maxi, just an amazing volley.

Rodriguez. Mainly because I'm bitter about Pavard being knocked out by del piero but also cos volleys are satisfying as funk

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,607 ✭✭✭StevenToast

    Ill go for Maxi here.....

But this tournament has been dirtied by the progression of robbie keanes goal and the exit of Maradonas goal vs england and carlos albertos 1970 gem...

If that's the worst that happens here that a great goal was knocked out by another great goal we aren't doing too bad given previous biscuit controversies :P

I'll vote Rodriguez here, gotta love the volley finishes that come off.

Even though the Maxi goal holds great memories for me as I had watched it in Kilkenny after going to see the Flaming Lips support Bob Dylan in Nowlan Park.

It has to be Del Piero.

    Cannavaro's tenacity. Totti's vision.

    Gilardino's incredible skill.

    Del Piero's finish.

    Wonderful goal.

Del Piero for all involved in lead up

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,527 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

Del Piero. There's just more to it - Cannavaro burtsing out to win the ball, the reverse pass and the composed clinical finish.

    Del Piero, great build up.

amazing volley by Mazi but that Del Piero goal has it all and gets better every time you watch it. Voting Del

  • Registered Users Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

A Chinook heavy-lift helicopter struggled to get him there.

And yet up there he is. With his best team logo crown.

  • Registered Users Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Maxi goal is just pure class. Dynamism and technique.

Del Piero is great and all but finish let's it down.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,495 ✭✭✭ArnoldJRimmer

I started off this tournament without an appreciation of how good that Del Piero goal is, so to compensate, he gets my vote here

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

    Maxi Rodriguez 5-7 Del Piero
