Prof Johan Giesecke told the Daily committee today he wasn't convinced by the evidence of mask wearing. There is a lot of group think in this country.

If it's blame you're after it's those who are not reducing contacts and those deemed close contacts who are not getting tested. They are all from non-mask locations.

This is why mask wearing is more important now. The people who aren't taking precautions walk amongst us. By them wearing masks when they're working or going to the shops or taking the bus, they are reducing the risk to the rest of us.

does anyone have the figures of before and after masks for Ireland and other European comparisments?

I see them being spoken about, but no references.

Make no mistake the masks have got nothing to do with stopping covid but rather they have everything to do with taking your freedom away from you.

So how does wearing a mask take away a person's freedom?

The evidence that non-surgical masks stop the spread is pretty weak. However, I find it impossible to believe that wearing masks would make things worse. And it's very easy to wear a mask.

Why would there be people wearing masks when they go for a walk outdoors? It isn't the requirement and you know it. Stop trolling.

It's easy to have it on your face, but it's not easy to breathe in it for 12 hours. Go ahead and try it. Who needs oxygen right, it's overrated anyway.

If you had said it's a pain in the face and kind of uncomfortable to wear one for hours then yeah you might have a point. But no, the fact that you are implying they deprive you of oxygen only shows how little you know. Best to stick to the funny memes you don't understand basic science.

    Definition of a troll:

Trolling is defined as creating discord on the Internet by starting quarrels or upsetting people by posting inflammatory or off-topic messages in an online community. Basically, a social media troll is someone who purposely says something controversial in order to get a rise out of other users.

I'm not trolling, I'm serious in what I say. You're wrong.

Hmmm. I seriously doubt that but assuming you are on the level here`s a definition for you.

Personal or Individual Responsibility is the idea that human beings choose, instigate, or otherwise cause their own actions. A corollary idea is that because we cause our actions, we can be held morally accountable or legally liable.

Hopefully you will learn something from this. You certainly need to.

Believe it or not, many thousands of people in Ireland work 12 hour shifts where mask wearing is required.
To even suggest it deprives you of oxygen just shows your lack of knowledge and outright desire to produce any nonsense in order to present a contrary view on masks - it ain't working: everybody sees them for what they are at this stage.
    2/10 for effort.

Take the mask out of the plastic bag before you put it on.

I work in a small shop by myself. Some days are busier than others.
I can have customers who are in the shop for a minute or less or up to twenty (if I have to do my sales pitch.)
Since Match people were wearing gloves and a very few had masks on.
When we reopened in May gloves were gone in general but people were using hand sanitizer.
Contactless payments are hit and miss.

When the masks became mandatory I'd say the vast majority(About 90%) of people have worn them. Most continue to sanitize their hands.
Some people pop in the door for something fast.(I know it's not ideal but they ask for permission to come in f they aren't wearing them).
Now some people are sloppy with masks but they are trying.
Those who aren't wearing them. Think the whole thing is a big joke and just laugh at it.(I'm very good to tip along with people). However those who aren't wearing masks are generally rude and arrogant customers.
An example is one of them licked something in the shop, he put his head under the screen, His friend on the internet knows everything about Covid and the products I'm selling. If he has an issue everybody else is wrong except him.

I've no issue with wearing masks for an eight hour day. Even longer if I do stuff after work. It's not the big ordeal some people make it out to be.

To me it makes sense wearing them. Not just to stop the spread of Covid but the spread of common flu's, cold's, Infections, etc which are commonly spread in the coming months and sometimes results in people taking up hospitals beds and this year we've to do as less of this as possible.

Would you rather someone with Covid-19 beside you sneezes with a mask on or a mask off?

It is common courtesy learned since small age that one put a hand in front of their mouth and nose when sneezing. Or turn away.
I do not think that there are many people who would sneeze to your face.

What sort of an idiot doesnt want to protect themselves?. In all seriousness people like you should be refused medial care if/when you do catch the virus

Plenty of such idiots around. They all should have been refused medical care. Everyone without a mask, everyone who drinks alcohol, everyone who drinks soda, everyone who eats takeaway junk food, drug users, gamblers...
Sure I forgot some other idiots but boards collective mind can go full throttle so we can identify every idiot out there.

Not necessarily - it can in fact. Absence of proof isn't proof of absence that the wearing of masks didn't play a major part in knocking back the disease in both countries.

Strange though how the deaths per million figures turned out for these mask wearing countries compared to the ROI.

    Czechia 51
    Slovenia 69
    ROI 362

There is talk amongst professionals discussing the viable possibility that post-socialist countries fare better due to TB vaccination requirement which we do not have here for quite some time.
