I think Sagan has been relegated. Results on the Tour site have changed

Sagan has been referred to the commissaires and the video referees are currently reviewing footage of that sprint.

Its arguably a more dangerous manoevre that the one that got him disqualified in 2017 but is the lack of a crash/injury a mitigating factor?

The fact that there was no crash will definitely help!
And it happens in rugby allot. Outcome v Action

I hate to see unsportsmanlike behaviour that could severely injure your fellow competitors.

    Sagan disqualification!
    Edit
Sorry relegation is the correct word!

What about the 13 pts Sagan got from the sprint earlier?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,033 ✭✭✭✭Richard Hillman

Sagan has a lot of speed going up the side and Van Aert is veering slighty right (have a look at the road line and you'll see he is moving away from it).You could argue that if he doesn't give a nudge he could get cornered in towards the barrier.

That'll increase Sams lead by 30 points

    40 pt swing no? Sam + 10 Sagan - 30.

You're technically correct (which is the best form of correct)!

I hope Sam has enough prize money to pay for all the post-race pints he will owes Morkov and the other lads.

Thought I read that cyclists winnings are pooled by the entire team?

But that was Sagan's decision to go on the inside, if there's no room, that's Sagan's fault for taking the wrong route, not seen the sprint finish, have it recorded

You are correct but even after the split I think he owes him a few 😉.
I believe that is the general arrangement for prize money but I think Lance and Bruneel has other ideas sometimes.

I suppose you could now say Sagan has jumped into life

He came to the Tour and looked half a*sed about everything including Green and his condition wasnt great

Now I think he will be more determined and alot of the stages coming suit him for points
Trentin might take them off of him

Maybe DQS can use some of their guys to get points on the rolling stages

Its going to be a fight to the end I think

Fair call by the commisaires - there's no way that was a fair move on Van Aart, basically barged him out of the way.

Cees Bol a solid 18th again after sunweb's hard work

I retract - Sam would have got upgraded to 30 points in that sprint, Sagan 0 increase there is 30

However it seems Sagan was also docked the intermediate sprint points. why, I don't know - didn't think they were allowed do that.

Usually happens to lads when they realise they arent the same athletes they once were.
    Why so serious now:pac:

This could mean Bennett has enough of a lead that he just needs to trail Sagan for the rest of the race and he could be uncatchable!

Wouldn’t it be good to see him getting the stage win in Paris in green!

This. Though you would factor in some sideways movement rather than him changing his line

He passed the rider behind with even less space

Nobody likes to be beaten, and that’s more so for athletes at the highest level. I would be more surprised if he didn’t react strongly to it.

Elbow notwithstanding, Sagan was wheel-to-wheel with the fastest finishers in the bunch. Its not as if he yeeted Quintana into the crowd in a gallop for 80th place.

He may not be what he was, but he's still pretty damn fast.
