Most of our dead were nursing home residents in the 80+ category. Killed by our HSE who sent covid infected patients from our hospitals into them without testing them first for covid. A scandal of the highest order. But no calls for a public enquiry...I wonder why?

Nursing home residents were the most vulnerable to the virus and also the easiest to protect. But they weren’t. I wonder why. Incompetence? Or worse?

So you're saying if we handled the nursing homes better we'd have much less dead people and have managed the pandemic way way better than Florida by following the restrictions we did?

Most of the people who died originally were in nursing homes (as happened in most countries, this was not just the HSE), this was not the case during Jan/Feb when we had the highest amount of deaths just after Christmas.

Nothing to see here just police doing a heroic job risking their lives from the deadly kung flu keeping all us good European citizens safe from this nasty evil deadly virus. Its all about keeping us safe remember at the end of the day we're all in this together.

    Again more racist bollocks.

You keep undermining yourself when you do this.
    So please continue.

So you don't believe the measures have any effect on the virus.
What's their real purpose? Which measures will be installed permanently? Why?

Please be specific in your answer.
Just mindlessly blurting "power" is just vague and meaningless nonsense.

I see you're still in denial that there was any problem to be concerned about in the first place,
and you are still making no attempt to understand what's really happening/happened.

I just had a quick look at a couple of the site that were carrying covid misinformation before,
and I see they are still as one sided and off the wall and scary as ever, but maybe slightly less covid,
though one 'irish' one has a video predicting one more lockdown (someone on here must have been watching that!!!)

If the conspiracy echo chamber is your normal hangout,
and you feed unquestioningly on their one sided misinformation
and you don't check stuff for yourself on a range of other web sites,
then it's no surprise you will believe stuff that is simply mistaken.

I stopped reading here. Maybe let the adults debate and stop coming out with childish stuff like this.

    Cringe.

You must be gutted that so much of the world are on the way back to being normal? Countless posts proved wrong and a year of your life wasted with this nonsense.

According to our esteemed tin foil hat wearing colleagues, the HSE hacking has been staged to cover up information the HSE / Government/ bill gates/ george soros/ klaus schwab don't want you to see.

Oh really? Haha great stuff. Have any of these people ever seen the IT setup in the HSE? An absolute notorious shambles.

Similar to the 5G thing, people who don't know the difference between wifi and mobile data or barely know how to use a PC forming very complicated theories about.... IT.

Utter tosh. My freedoms do not impinge on anyone else's. If others feel like they are at high risk from covid they have the freedom to stay in their homes if not they should stop bitching and accept the risk.

This is simplistic in the extreme. Everybody's freedoms impinge upon everyone else in all but a tiny minority of incidences. Pretty much every law in the land restricts your freedoms for the greater good. The entirety of the rules of the road alone is a couple of hundred pages of your freedoms being restricted to stop you and your vehicle from impinging upon everybody else.

When's the last time you saw someone smoking in a pub? Why isn't it allowed any more?
Why can't I walk into St Stephen's Green and start blaring hardcore gabber techno from a speaker?
Or pouring my old cooking oil into the Tolka?

Some people will continue to wear masks in crowded places because they don't want to deal with infectious illnesses. They've been doing it for decades in Asia.

Nothing to do with your bizarre political slant on it

They wear masks for pollution in Asia

And also to limit the spread of infectious diseases. Tokyo is super clean, like spotlessly clean, with very little traffic pollution or smog or smoke from street vendors. Still, people all over the place with facemasks on to stop them from giving their cold to others.

Yep, it's been anticipated for over a year that there would be variations on the initial virus. So surprise, surprise the virus is doing what science told us it would.

Now what script have you been reading and what exactly about rises in new cases of new variants of covid did your conspiracy predict, and where was there any mention of lockdowns being permanent in any of those articles?

What is the motivation for permanent lockdowns? How exactly does anyone benefit from that?

the variations are minuscule according to this specialist

Specialist? You mean widely debunked anti Vax looper? News just in, variations tend to be small, that isn't news. It doesn't mean what he says it means.

None of those articles say lockdowns will be brought back in. One says that possibly, maybe, lifting of restrictions may possibly be delayed slightly if things don't continue on the positive path they are on. That's it. Take your doom mongering elsewhere.

I think the general claim is that the variations are so small that the y aren't changing enough to effect the vaccine or cause any other concern, therefore all the caution about the new variants is obvious false.
And cause the caution is false, it must be due to a conspiracy.

And what about all the other specialists?

And as regards his saying there is only 0.3% genetic difference between the virus variants
keep in mind that there is just 1.2% difference between human and Chimpanzee genes!!

What percentage difference would there need to be, in your opinion, to be significant?

A town of 45,000 people in Brazil has just been part of a test that has demonstrated how much impact vaccines have. As usual it contradicts so much bunk we've been reading in threads like this for months.
The city was divided into four areas to help determine the threshold for containing the virus. The team said this was achieved after three areas, or about 75% of the population over the age of 18, had been given both doses.

When 95% of adults were fully vaccinated, they said the results showed that:

    Deaths fell by 95%
    Hospitalisations fell by 86%
    Symptomatic cases fell by 80%

And what about the boiling frogs conspiracy? How does a rise in cases due to a new variant, which isn't actually causing much extra in the way of cases ending up in hospitals, prove any conspiracy around lockdowns that did already happen and have been relaxed (so not permanent) or any other future temporary lockdowns which may or may not happen (and won't be permanent)?

I don’t believe in endless lockdowns. But there are more coming.
