Ok, so do you have your own belief as to what the conspiracy is and why do you believe it?

Also in general is a conspiracy theory just someone's beliefs rather than a well thought out theory based on available reliable data. If it is, how can any conspiracy theory ever be right or wrong? It's just belief.

That would be the equivalent of J K Rowling giving up on her story about wizards after the first paragraph. Or God giving up on his story book after the bit about the first 7 days.

We're not looking for 100% proof of anything, just a bit more than saying "there are bad people" and then giving up. Flesh out the ideas a bit. Why would someone want to conspire in the ways that are being suggested.

"There's a wizard school. And there's adventures or something. Maybe there's a bad guy who's doing something bad? Dunno."

"You're a sheeple if you don't think that's worth a multibillion dollar franchise."

There is a (vague) conspiracy by the OP that measures will be permanent as part of a ruse to usher in Communism. Details haven't been given. This has been debunked as measures are not permanent, and there's obviously no sign of a Communist take-over in Ireland

There are many other vague and very different conspiracies in here, if memory serves me well, some involve Satan, some involve Fascism, one involved the government implementing measures because they were "popular". There are also conspiracies in here that are unrelated and have nothing to do with measures being permanent.

It's a mish-mash of random stuff, I still have come across any conspiracy which I would call anywhere close to being explained. Even the one by OP, who are the conspirators?

Not a conspiracy theory. The head of the Bank of England was calling for the currencies to be programmable a few months ago. The Government would determine how the money could be spent.

I've discovered someone who has done a lot of research on everything that is happening. She may deserve her own thread. Not sure. Her name is Alison McDowell. Have you watched any of her videos or read any of her research?

If there's no conspiracy, why did the tweet that you posted describe that it was considered a conspiracy theory?

    This Alison McDowell?

Flat-earth people have "done a lot of research". When you hear the phrase on or anywhere near a conspiracy forum or fringe belief, it's a metaphor for seeking validation from nonsense online.

That Alison McDowell, yes. She has done amazing research on the Great Reset, vaccine passports, technocracy etc. It's all on her Twitter page and she's been interviewed about it.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,582 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

wow, she has a twitter account and has "been interviewed"

    all hail the second coming...

    🙄

So now we have that we are all actually living in The Matrix?

If that is your current claim then just say so. It's daft, but if going with the background setup from the movies then it does at least have reasoning and a certain amount of logic behind it, and nobody can prove it one way or the other. Would probably make sense to move your discussion to the movies forum though to discuss further, but I'd maybe keep quiet about that you think it is actually real.

Lol. Is that all you need to be an expert?

Was this "research" reading other experts from the University of Twitter?

Tell us, how did you reading of Alex jones go given that you say you'd look into his claims a little while ago?

Why do you accept what these obvious cranks and crackpots tell you without question?

You all keep asking for why, who etc. Read Alison McDowell's hypothesis. It's rather complicated, but it's certainly a hypothesis worth discussing.

But don't say no one has said why, what etc. Alison McDowell has offered a hypothesis.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,582 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

    no need

her twitter title is "Cosmic Dance Greater Than Cyborg Avatar Capitalism "... so nah. thank anyway

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,960 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

    I've looked at her twitter

Why would we read this cookie-cutter conspiracy crapola from some moonbat who thinks nanobots are coming to take away her spirit?

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,234 ✭✭✭✭King Mob

    Cause she's been interviewed, obviously.

That makes her an unquestionable expert.

And looks like the conspiracy is changing again now. Now it involves secret Nanotech again!

These people make money from this BS, how can conspiracy theorists never put 2 and 2 together

I could be one of these people making money from this, it's simple. Disgustingly dishonest, but simple.

If one of these ideas could be expanded on a bit they would actually make a good sci-fi story.

Because she explains the 'why, who, what' you keep asking for. Watch her interviews, read her research. It's easy to just dismiss her as a grifter.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,105 ✭✭✭✭charlie14

Conspiracy theorists do put 2 and 2 together. They just come up with the answer as being 6 and then try and sell it to the guillible.

I believe in the majority of cases they are like preachers who do not even believe nor care what the they spout as long as it gets them followers. The rest are just wannabe disciples, that from whatever problems in their own lives, need someone or something to follow and as soon as one guru is exposed as a sham, off they go seaching for the next.

Because she and the other people you follow are grifters.

What have you done to fact check her claims?

Why are you able to explain your own ideas? Why do you have to link to grifters with entirely different (and very silly) beliefs from you? Seems very lazy to me.

But I think this is all you have. You can't provide anything original cause you can only parrot whatever these grifters tell you.

You in particular seem to flit from one to the other, change your beliefs at the drop of the hat and just start buying into the next theory cause it's exciting and new.

No. These people are nonsense merchants, they are all the same. You clearly have no filter for it.

Whether it's someone from 10 years ago who was banging on about bar-codes, microchips and 4G or it's a carbon copy babbling on about digital ID, "nanobots" and 5G today, they are all essentially the same. Paranoid or disenfranchised people with low critical thinking gravitate towards these frauds in the same way that people who heavily buy in the spiritual gravitate towards psychics and that lot

And no, don't pull the "you don't know until you read everything by them", normal people have filters for fruitcakes and quackery. I don't need to read flat-earth "research" to know it's all nonsense.

Why can't it be that you disagree with them? Why is it that anyone and everyone who has a different opinion to you is a 'nonsense merchant' and/or 'a grifter'?

I'm happy to read any source you can point to that debunks what she's saying.

And I did say read all of her research. Read some of it to get an idea as to where she's coming from.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,234 ✭✭✭✭King Mob

No, not everyone who disagrees with us is a grifter.

People who make a profit by convincing folks like you that they are experts with secret knowledge are grifters.

You previously said you were going to look into Alex Jones's claims. He is clearly and legally a grifter. Yet still you held him up as an expert because he feeds into your preferred worldview.

This latest grifter you've latched onto isn't different.

You'll dump her as soon as you find a new twitter thread that you think is exciting.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,960 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

There isn't a disagreement. It's not like the world is flat and not flat. It's not a "matter of opinion".

These people push lies and distortions and logical fallacies. Why would anyone take the countless hours required to go through and explain how everything from this woman is ultimately nonsense? Even if they did, you would just ignore all the explanations. And even if by some miracle you accepted the explanations, you have demonstrated you'll just jump to another quack. So what's the point? It's clear you just want to believe in whatever conspiracies appeal to you and don't seem to have any filters for it.

Ok, but don't be crying about no one offering 'who, why, what'. It's been offered many times.

Three people to check out for 'who, why, what' hypotheses:

    Alison McDowell

    Patrick M. Wood

    Sikh For Truth

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,234 ✭✭✭✭King Mob

But these are all just more cranks you follow on twitter.

We're asking for your conspiracy theory, not theirs.

If however, you're just giving up and reverting to the ever brave tactic of "google it" because you can't actually argue your own point.

Then you should just look up all the real doctors and medical organisations that don't agree with your conspiracy theories.

Or look up any of the youtube channels and twitter people who debunk all this crap.

Or have a visit of Metabunk which is run by a guy who also has done interviews.

Or you know, just read some actual books and get informed rather than read conspiracy theory twitter to pretend to be a rebel researcher.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,960 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

More lazy whataboutery, trying to "outsource" the burden to some other conspiracy theorists.

You change your conspiracy innuendo every other week depending on whatever conspiracy blog or social media account you've wandered across.

All you've done is found a new way to dodge the question, by pawning it off to the babblings of internet loons who plaster their incoherent crap all over twitter

It's very simple, what is YOUR conspiracy concerning Covid right now? who are the conspirators? If you don't know, that's fine, but stop the pretense that you have any interest in reality or the truth. Your only interest is in whatever "cool sounding" 1984 style conspira-crapola you come across next.

Feel free at any point to load up any thread in this forum from the last decade to see a perfect facsimile of yourself spouting whatever conspiracy nonsense was flavor of the month that time.

Call it what you want. Check those three people out for the 'who, why, what'. It's not even a conspiracy theory. It's happening in front of our eyes. It's replacing the old world with a digital world. It's a real shame you have adopted an absolutist position on this. Your command of language suggests someone of considerable intelligence and yet you just dismiss anyone and everyone as grifters, flat earthers and/or loons.
