Developed sinus-asthma, slight fever, symptoms by late Monday, whereupon I emailed GP. Own senior partner doctor away, so new doctor, whom I never met, phoned Tuesday. Told me to take Amoxicillin he prescribed via email to chemist, told me to go out and about as normal, just not to parties.

Got much worse over the days, sharp chest pains, fever etc this morning, emailed GP again, senior man who knows me well back on duty and arranged "urgent test".

Just now got text to inform appointment is Sunday evening. It will be interesting to find out how quick result is, and of course if I've picked up a Ovid or some other peculiar thing in spite of my almost paranoid wearing of medical masks, carrying hand gel in belt and using it obsessively. Only "risk taking" was coffee and eating meals in a hotel last week in Kilkenny/Carlow whereupon, of course, mask was removed, but always socially distanced.

Best of luck. You followed doctor's advice so you did nothing wrong. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm just looking at the evidence..

    You think it's a cold
Your doctor said the child has a cold
Your ex thinks it's a cold

You don't meet the criteria sorry to disappoint. I'd be getting in the supplements and clough syrup to get the house back to health asap.

    I'm waiting for a test.

Think you are definitely trolling me you scamp.

Thanks for reminding me, I'll get some Vit C and Zinc into me.

Why are people getting excited about the Ferriter article in the Times. It is an opinion piece but he does refer to a contrary opinion on the strategy. As a historian, he is well aware that when we look back you can analyse the decisions that were taken and the options available. It is healthy in a democracy that people are questioning the approach - we need that. Especially as the consequences can be so great. This is not a black and huge situation by any means.

And if anyone thinks that an opinion piece in the Irish Times will have any influence on whether Maggie and Joe will have 100 people or not at their family celebration this weekend is living in lala land.

Good advice. Think I'll back away from this forum for a while :)

Yesterday you were giving out about having to wear facemasks.

Now today it's someone has symptoms and they don't need to get tested.

You really want people to spread the virus don't you? It's like you get a kick out of it or are you just been awkward for the sake of it?

Been there done that, just think your jumping the gun, we'll know in a few days...I want tighter criteria for testing, hence the hump, nothing personal.

210 cases today. 121 in Dublin. 17 in Louth. 10 in Limerick.

512 cases in Dublin the last 5 days alone. The other 25 counties 387 cases in the last 5 days.

It's clear on the HSE website, if you can explain the symptoms you don't need a test. I think the symptoms have been well explained even confirmed by a GP.

You were complaining last week that not enough tests were being done, and a week before that that too many tests were being done, so guessing in a week or two you'll be back to complaining that not enough tests are being done.

Indeed. The virus was pushed into Dublin from Kildare a few weeks back with those storms. Coincides with the start of the rise in cases in Dublin and the decline in Kildare. It is an airborne virus.

    No I don't think so :D

just a larger mobile population shopping and dining out and socialising up until recent newer restrictions.
This is the rise which was inevitable from that .

It is rising elsewhere too but not noticeable until numbers start to go up , as in Dublin .
Starting from a larger base, and now doubling every fortnight.

People should not be getting too complacent around the country , as some of us here have been saying all the time.

This virus will do what it exists to do . Infect as many as possible, who are not already infected.

    Maybe you are..

We've had to stop testing in high risk settings due to a huge amount of community referrals.
The HSE is quite clear on its website. If you can't deduce from what's been posted that OP has a cold they don't need a test.

There's another person above who is in a lot different state and needs a test today but can't get one until Sunday. Why because 99% of referrals are misdiagnosis or self diagnosed ignoring the HSE advice about when to get tested.

Took my son to out of hours Doc on Sunday. He was happy that it was a cold.

Maybe he should have been tested as he had and still has a cough.

Everyone else in the house has picked it up over the course of the week.

It is very annoying that people with hayfever or a pain n their elbow were being referred for testing a couple of months ago , and now those with actual real symptoms are being fobbed off because there is a surge in testing.

They need to get this right and invest in testing all those ,including kids with symptoms , or just give up the BS about living with the virus .

You do realize that most cases are asymptomatic don't you? People don't even realize they have it. Seriously like.

If they think they have it better off getting tested, especially if you work in a place that doesn't give sick days instead of spreading it to others.

Your against face masks and people getting tested.

Pretty good considering schools are back now nearly 2 weeks. Perhaps a touch around the 300 on Tuesday with the weekend figure overspill.

Glynn suggesting that people in Dublin are coming forward quickly. That can only be a good thing to get on top of it.

    Dr Glynn

“While we are seeing a continued increase in cases, particularly in Dublin, this is at least partly due to the willingness of people to heed our core messages around knowing the symptoms and coming forward promptly for testing. This together with all of the other key behaviours will help to break the chains of transmission in our communities.

This weekend, please limit your social contacts, especially visitors to your home. Avoid crowds, keep your distance from others and wear a face covering where appropriate."

Would just be worried that they can't catch all cases with mild cases and asymptomatic cases but hopefully good sign more people are coming forward.
