Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. What a game this Scarlets Connacht game is.
Unrecognisable from the box kicking we saw at the weekend. Wonderful to watch. Defence isn't great from the Scarlets but some of the passing and running from Connacht is superb. Bonus point already in the bag.

That's the thing though its against a barebones scarlets with nothing to play for Connacht try implementing this game plan against strong opposition and we all know what happens.

If Cardiff beat Edinburgh then Scarlets drop a place and have a harder draw in Europe next season so it isnt a total dead rubber.

There are a fair few Welsh internationals in that side..4 or 5 at my count.

Are scarlets a team that really put much focus on Europe though? Their previous results wouldn't really bare that out even the year they made the sfs i dont think they had a single sell out. Its hardly an arena they play in as is, think its smaller then the rds.

It’s a cracking game. Connacht are great to watch.
The Welsh 15 will have nightmares after Papali’s try.

I am quick to criticise him but I think Whitehouse is having a good game. Quick to penalise cynical play.

Think the TMO talked him out of the red card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

Red card for me. Straight arm to the neck. Hard for players though as they need to unlearn that habit of putting the arm up to protect themselves and brush off a player.

There are almost as many guys in the Welsh squads with test caps as there are without.

Cardiff have 10 of them in their team tonight also. Wales give out a lot of caps and throw people in really quickly. Most of them get a couple of caps and are never heard from again. The Scarlets are missing 20-25 players at the moment. This is a terrible Scarlets team. Connacht have to avoid becoming complacent though. The only way they blow this is by falling asleep and letting it turn into a game of touch which is what the Scarlets would love because they've no pack or bite at all.

Hey, I tried to warn them! And they just kept trying to play the game just how the Scarlets wanted.

Connacht had a big pack on the field tonight. Nothing wrong with just smashing it up the middle with Daly, Papali'i, Boyle etc. and watching Scarlets lose interest. Things like trying to play a high risk attacking game when wobbling or sending kicks to the middle of the pitch where their back three could field it on the run was madness.

Of course, the defending didn't exactly help. That effort from John Porch was a howler.

If we have to have some games over international windows next season, they really should retain the Monday games. I know it can cause issues with turnarounds to the next game, but they've been brilliant this season.

Yeah but just before that "Rounds 4 to 6 will see the four South African ‘Super’ franchises play their away games in Europe"

You'll notice as well that the SA teams play their R3 games a week before everyone else, so they have 3 weeks to come to Europe and quarantine before R4.

Presumably, given they've a better PD etc than Munster, Ulster won't be in the same conference as Leinster next season?

Poor game for a final. Both teams looked a bit dead, perhaps after the game against England.

Murray could be out of the Lions after that. He was very average. Carberry didn't offer much more at 10. I am not sure he is going to make it as a top level 10. He doesn't look to have the kicking game.

Granted conditions looked poor today and the wind seemed to be a real issue. But Munster just never got into the game, no possession.

Tough turnaround now for Munster to lift themselves. Hopefully a better performance around the corner.

By the sounds of thing the only fair approach is that Leinster will be playing in both conferences next season

It has been posted on the Broadcasting forum on the eir thread that Sky have pulled the plug for Pro16 rights and that Premier Sport are in the frontline to hold onto the rights.

If it comes from north of Leinster the asteroid will miss the Leinster players and they’d still get a BP

Ties in with RTE being favourite for the Irish rights

Really hope RTE get the finger out and show us three games a weekend. Not expecting the Ulster ones but would be good to see the rest.

He was probably thinking of hemorrhoids when referencing the north.

Edinburgh v Benetton cancelled and Edinburgh get four points, Makes sense when it doesn't change standings.

Poor Benetton, they would surely have loved to get one win if possible, not to be, understandable.

The results and performances from the non-Irish teams in the Pro 12 this weekend have been alarming to say the least. The standard has fallen off a cliff the past few seasons with the decline of the Welsh and Scottish teams.

But you see it isnt. The competition is completely different this year. Most of the Welsh and Scots teams dont qualify to the knock out stages in normal years.

    Connacht
    Scarlets
    Edinbugh
    Munster
    Dragons

    All conceeded 40+ points

Cardiff and Ospreys not able to avoid 4 tries either

What the hell is going on with Celtic defence?
