Strange that none of our Cork friends are here this evening telling us about being ready for intensity or keeping discipline.

Despite the loss, improved performance from footballers today.

Much more confident display, unfortunately didn't take our chances on the attacking front.

Minors also out tomorrow night against Cork, same starting 15 as the last game against Limerick the last day. Hopefully better conditions for these lads to showcase their talents. Best of luck to the minors and 20's, already looking like we'd be needing a win in each having lost the opening games.

Any word of how the seniors went in their warm weather camp last week? Hopefully no further injuries and plenty of work done in preparation for four weeks time, particularly on a style of play that gets the best out of what we have...

Well beaten by a better team unfortunately. Could have beaten Limerick but Cork were far too strong.

Conveyor belt a-rollin still. The only pity is that this game & next are at home. It means our 2 toughest games are away.

That’s a decent Cork side so much better by Waterford.

I lost count of the number of unforced errors by Waterford (mis hit passes, miss hit sidelines, fumbling ….. ) ; poor wides in the 2nd half cost us in the end.

At least, they showed plenty of fight and bottle.

A Jekyll & Hyde performance from the U20’s. Played some terrific stuff in the first half but some very basic errors kept Cork in it. Second half we had a litany of errors, wides, sidelines, simple passes all going astray inexplicably at times even allowing for the conditions. Twice we cut sidelines directly out over the line. We must have had close to double figures in wides to the right in the second half alone.

This team could so easily have 4 points on the board at this stage. Have to imagine that Mark & Patrick are going to play a role with the senior team so may be finished with this team now.

On a side note, having to play Saturday & Wednesday is mental & was surely a factor vs a fresh Cork side.

Do we need an overhaul of underage intercounty hurling here??. Get people from outside the county too lead it

4 games and 4 defeats between Minor and Under20.

Watching our underage teams the last few years has been beyond frustrating. Our execution of the basic skills and decision making is so poor. Really fear for our long term future of competing at the top table of hurling.

I watched the u20 game tonight. As a Cork supporter, I thought Waterford weren't bad at all and were probably unlucky not to be alot closer there in the end on the scoreboard. A few bad misses and a certain goal opportunity which they didnt take at the end were in my view the difference. Waterford caused Cork alot of problems in the first half I thought. They weren't a million miles away from winning tonight.

This isn't a dig at you by any means, our issue is we're sick of getting these messages after morale victories. Our underage record is abysmal both historically and recently with the exception of two minor seasons and one under 21 season. We can make loads of excuses like we looked fatigued in the second half having played on Saturday which may hold some substance tonight. However we can't pretend we've been unlucky all the time for the last 7 years since we won the under 21.

So that’s more or less it then for the under 20s and minor championships gone from Munster in all but name and it’s march . God we really have to get out of Munster with our senior hurlers or I dread the consequences.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,386 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Minors have a big road back and as you siad more or less out of it

Under 20s have a slim chance but would need to win the last 2 games (that in itself is a huge ask) and hope Clare and Tipp don't pick up any more points which might get us in 3rd place

Yep the senior campaign is not going to be for the faint hearted

Still not gone on this new calendar

Do you have an issue with the new calendar or do you have an issue with us being sh1te?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,460 ✭✭✭decies

I think the former makes the latter worse .

Aussie got sunburnt on his little finger and is out for the year. Twas a major session in terms of work. minimum 10 pints a day. Davy was very direct in his approach, breakfast, pints, lunch, pints, dinner, pints and bed. 5 days of it I heard. some craic the lads said. great team bonding

what stupid question to ask on a forum. 😅

Anyone have any theories as to why Waterford teams of the last decade seem to be lacking in hurling sharpness and score taking compared to other top teams at all age levels?

On a related note I was amazed at how poors Tipps striking is this year compared to their peak under Eamonn O'Shea.

'News floating around that Davy Fitzgerald has resigned as Waterford manager, Fitzgerald informed the Co.Board of his decision lastnight citing work commitments as the reason, Waterford who're already without Conor Prunty, Austin Gleeson, Stephen Bennett and Shane McNulty for the first round game v Limerick are now in a deep crisis to find a replacement 3 weeks out from championship.. Derek McGrath, Liam Sheedy and Eddie Brennan are among the bookies favourites to take the job...

    Only in Waterford eh 🙈'
