Neither Lyons or Bennett are good enough. Ye should have had Leavy in midfield all league. A great player, a workhorse similar to Brick Walsh. Lyons is too slow, Offaly midfielder burned him for pace a few times today and Bennett just not good enough and gives away alot of frees. Must say I was impressed with Gavin Fives watching it today and also the other corner back Ryan, a problem position for Waterford for years.

Turns out we didn't need to win the game after Westmeath ended up beating Carlow

Midfield is a big problem. Jamie might be a handful for teams at 11 and it might suit him better at his age to play there but I think the team needs him more at midfield. Would agree with the previous poster that Leavy might be better placed there as he has a great ability to control the pace and direction of the game. If our injuries clear up I’d be surprised and disappointed to see him at wing back come championship. I’m still not happy with Shane Bennett playing inside and I’d almost put him midfield with Leavy if we want Jamie at 11 allowing him to drop deep when he wants.

Great to see Tadhg back in good form and yet again, Stephen Bennett is carrying the team.

I’m not expecting a whole lot this year so will just enjoy the days out and hope we get a few good performances. Our younger generation of talent are not there and you can see new superstars coming through in other counties nearly every year while we have a few panel players coming through. I don’t mean to sound harsh.

we’ll be competitive this year and next year but there’s a general acceptance that Tadgh Jamie Aussie and Bennett will be gone in a year or 2 then there’s a few lean years coming.

don’t see midfield being the issue at all come championship, plenty options and depth there. Agree leavy and Barron look to be the best options we have there but think the injury list is what has them elsewhere.
half back line to me looks like the real issue but de burca back is a great sign, haven’t really got a clear replacement for Lyon’s and don’t thing anyone really ever replaced fagan.

mark fitzgerald and gavin fives for 5 and 7?

Prunty, Aussie & Mahony won't feature in League final but expected back for Championship, according to Queally. Haven't heard any update on Patrick Fitzgerald, Kiely or the Dalys.

Gavin Fives has really put his hand up. He's by no means the finished article but I like his energy. He adds a bit of life to the team and you'd at least feel like he's giving it 100%.

We really need Prunty and Patrick Fitz back and Aussie starting in the half forward or being our last 20 minutes sub would give us a chance in any game. I've sort of got used to not having Daly to be honest. He's as unlucky as Darragh Fives at this stage.

It's funny all the giving out about the Offaly red card yet nothing being said about Duignan's shoulder to Bennett and the yellow he received for being sat on and then the ref being an arse not leaving Peter Hogan come onto the pitch as blood sub.

I saw the Duignan incident back and thought Stephen Bennett made a meal of it.

But him being yellow carded for being pushed while trying to strike the ball was a terrible decision.

I watched it back as well and think it looks a solid knock based on how his head moves afterwards but it's done now so all the one anyway

agree that Gavin Fives has been the big find of this league, he’ll definetly be called upon over the course of the Munster championship

Also have to mention Conor Ryan, never really rated him before but has really come into his own the past couple of games and growing in confidence. Albeit by accident rather than design with 2/3 our first choice fullback line so injury prone. He’ll be needed in the summer

I’d say you’re better off letting that incident lie, Bennett had just swung wildly on the ground and caught an Offaly lad in the face

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,394 ✭✭✭Mastermcgrath

He got a yellow for it though?

you can take the man out of Ballysaggart…..

Queally suggested Iarlaith Daly is getting there and could be back in a couple of weeks so might feature in the league final.

Patrick Fitzgerald is looking at another 4 weeks due to a setback apparently.

Kiely has to be a big doubt as he may possibly need surgery on his ankle but is trying to get by for the Championship.

Gleeson must also be a big doubt if he has a hamstring injury with so few minutes under his belt.

Anyone know what happened to Prunty, Carthach Daly and Kevin Mahony?

Ideal for everyone except Offaly supporters

The big counties and there home & away agreements

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,394 ✭✭✭Mastermcgrath

I won’t complain as my fear was they’d fix it for Limerick

Bit It’s all about the mooladhs and a packed out Pairc

Anyone that doesn't have a season ticket would want to be quick on getting their ticket. Cork fans won't be long about snapping them up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,277 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Only terrace available already. Hopefully clubs getting an allocation

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 779 ✭✭✭TheScoringGoal

Brainless decision to put both games on in Cork. Cork fans could fill the stadium on their own, add in Tipp fans and it would already be a squeeze. But then to add in two more counties is incredibly stupid and deprives people the chance to see their county play, bearing in mind they may only have five more matches before next January.

And then there's the logistical nightmare that is Páirc Uí chaoimh

Yeah ourselves and Offaly getting tied down because of Cork & Tipps home and away agreement ballax

Could easily play it in Croke Park or just have our game on in Kilkenny

Still Cork vs Tipperary will be a great firey game

Nowlan Park would have been the ideal location for Waterford V Offaly.

One would imagine Cork alone could nearly fill PuC alone let alone having another 3 counties looking for tickets.

That said under 3k for Waterford V Offaly in Walsh Park so maybe the demand wouldn't be there from our perspective.

But you would expect Nowlan park would attract a large Offaly crowd and a decent waterford crowd.

cant help but feel shat all over regarding tickets, only terrace available now, body not able to stand anymore.

1B final treated as an afterthought by the GAA. Possibly our only chance to see them play in Croke Park this year. With the munster round robin we might not get too many of those chances in the coming years! . Serious amount of hype around Cork... You would wonder will that bubble burst!

strong enough looking u20 panel. A few names there I didn’t even realise were still at the age.

Have to say the scheduling of our match down in cork is just another to the long long list of silly decisions the gaa has made in the last few years . They get very little decisions and changes right these days .

I do think it should have been a separate stand alone fixture alright given Cork and Tipp would sell it out on its own nearly.
