Kamna is going for KOM..well he was this morning anyway

Whoever wins the stage today is likely to lead KOM today. 20 points to the winner and there’s loads in that range

Don't follow cycling that closely normally but glued to the TDF this year as I'm off work sick at the moment.

Is there any chance that Pogacar could outgun Roglic in the time trial?

It's been an interesting race so far this year but the strength of Jumbo is sucking the life out of any potential excitement

    For today!
Sagan and bora will go balls out on stage 19 it’s their only card left to play

42 seconds lost on the riders he went over the top with and they are only just over half way down, I presumed he had some kind of mini accident as I am not watching it but not the case it seems

Yes, there is a good chance that Pogacar could beat Roglic in the T.T.
Pogacar beat R. in their National T.T. champs. this year.

There is a real skill in going downhill for that length of time. A fair degree of recklessness is required too. Can make quite a difference on a major descent

Dan back with the yellow jersey group now - disappointing

The ITV commentary mentioned that he slightly overshot a corner, had to make a quick readjustment and then lost contact very quickly.

He's back in the main group now

Dan sitting at the back of the group now. Only consolation is that the three up front won’t make it to the finish, without being caught.

Ironically enough, while I'd be surprised, he might have more chance assuming he sat up in the valley.

What's the general consent with Bennett on stage 19? Will he be able to contend at the end or is the route too hilly for him?

    Asking for a friend

Is that poor Cosnefoy fella out of his misery after today. It's a bit embarassing seeing the KoMs dropped every time the road goes up.

How are the time limits determined?

Are the predetermined or calculated at the finish?

Even if Sagan got 70 pts on stage 19 which is far from guaranteed, indeed unlikely, Sam still wins it in Paris with a win, in truth 2nd would probably do and less if Sagan fails to capitalise on Stage 19.

    The finish looks absolutely insane

It's not that hilly at all really. People are suggesting it's Sagan's "only" chance to unseat Sam so it's a dangerous day for him but it's also the last flat-ish day so loads of teams will be gunning for it

Stage 17 comments, please. Can Landa do something today, then. Or anyone else. 6 Jumbo boys looks ominous though.

It's not too hilly, all things being equal. He'll have to be focused and near the front from the start.

There's also a question as to whether Bora can drill it like they have other days, at stage 19. This is where Trentin being back in the mix is an added headache.

Bora and CCC the only teams interested in making it that hard. DQS and Lotto the only teams really interested in the pure sprinters making it.

I'm not sure whether it's an advantage or not for Sam that the sprint is relatively late. It gives Bora and CCC an end point to putting the hammer down, but then it's a long way to ride. Sagan carrying more weight than a normal tour to my eyes.

    Landa looks in agony!

Landa’s mates are killing themselves on the front. Would love to hear inside their minds
‘We’re burying ourselves, Landa better come good’
‘We’re killing ourselves....and all we’ve done is drop Robert Gesink!!’

Peleton bearing down on the 3 lads now, lead cut in half now. Will someone bolt inside the last 5 to 10km ?

Well there's a fooking General TdF Thread for a reason. I like to follow the day's stage on the Stage thread.

Last 4.5kms look fairly brutal. They'll hardly go before then.
