I'm wondering where the current GPUs like up in terms of their older cousins given we'll probably see a lot of stuff coming on sale. Just my thoughts:

    €700 or Above Class
    3080

    €400 - €550
    3070, 2080Ti

    €300 - 400
    2080 Super

    €200 - 300
    2070 Super, 5700XT, 1080Ti

1660S is that roughly inline with the 1070?

The problem is that it will take forever for the 2nd hand market to catch up.

You said yourself, the 1660S is broadly the same as the GTX1070 with slightly less VRAM.

It's been out almost a year, and until very recently people were still selling old 2nd hand GTX1070's for €300 when a GTX1660 Super was €230 or so new.

    Interesting times ahead on Adverts.

What makes 1080Ti so much less valuable than 5700XT?!

I have one and I wouldn't trade it for any AMD card available right now.

Age and that the 5700XT is a 'current' GPU still. That said AMDs reputation doesn't help. I personally think they're about on par.

Generally older, and wouldn't still be in warranty.

I have sold cards which have needed to be RMA'd soon after. (Don't buy Palit)

Not sure i would agree with that tier of pricing. Essentially you put second hand cards of similar performance to brand new tech and with warranty cards. Second hand, will always be second hand, you taking risk and it is old tech. No one in their right mind will pay same money for old card, if he can get brand new in the shop. Second hand prices will be a bit higher right now, because availability of new cards will be limited for few months. When mid tier cards pop up, like 3060, it will finally crash to its proper value, then again, adverts.ie live in parallel universe, and will price it with a help of fortune wheel.

2080ti should be around 350-400eu max.
    2080S around 250-300eu
    2070ish 1080ti about 200eu
Anything below is hard to tell, because we haven't seen mid tier pricing and performance yet. But from what we see so far cards like 3050, 3060, 3660ti? Will be very very interesting cards and make older gen really drop on its arse in value.

Now I am saying all this without wanting to insult people. Some people get very defensive when they can't cope with realisation of how much their tech worth now.

This looks closer to me alright if still even on the low side tbh. I think 2nd hand prices aren’t really based on value, maybe it’s just in our small market but definitely on Adverts.

If the 3070 is only really available at €550, people who only have €400/450 max seem to just go “well what’s an older equivalent? The 2070Super? Okay, here’s my €450”.

Added to the abundance of ads on Adverts which seem to think “selling xx. Only used for 1/2 years. Never overclocked. Price:€10 less than currently new on Amazon” is reasonable...And they seem to sell! Someone just thinking “great, saved myself a tenner there”

The 3080 and 3070 will be impossible to buy, and will increase in price (Sterling is bad now, wait until it improves). Watch the €1000 euro 3080's on adverts soon. Second hand on GFX cards always holds up for a long time. This is not based on feelings, it's based on history!

Of course, the situation will change, but no-one should be selling their 2080TIs for 400 euro right now, even the jokers on Adverts.

There are some big games coming out soon, and availability might not be there for the 3070 or 3080. (Cyberpunk)

The cheaper cards on OC.UK for a 3080 are now €770 with few exceptions. Prices increased (and don't forget to convert to Irish VAT. 20% -> 21%). I expect the stragglers to do the same.

I managed to pre-order a Gigabyte card, 783.53 euro (according to Revolut). That includes shipping to RoI and Irish VAT.

I got mine for €730, but I got it £649 base price. Gigabyte Eagle OC

Turns out my old 1060 is now worth as much as a 2070 Super was!

It’s just madness at the moment.

How will the prices drop and are they going to drop
    That’s my worry

Sold my rx 5600xt the other day, so the hunt begins

Bargain lads, and don't even think of insulting with an offer of €110

(kudos if he sells it all the same, but a 2014 card at that price..the world's gone mad! Think I sold my RX480 for just a little above that!)

I have a 1650 super I've held on to as a backup card to my 3080 if anything went wrong, wonder would it fetch 400 quid now.....

All jokes aside, it'll take quite some time for the market to level back out. I bought a 1080 right after the 3080 announcement for 250 quid off eBay because I wasn't sure if I was going to get a 3080, and I see there's listings on adverts for 600 for ones now with people offering 450 for a 5 year old card that performed worse than the 2060 that was selling for £270 only a few months ago.

i put my 1080ti up and got 2 offers of 600 within 2 days, i took the ad down as i dont really have a good backup card and it would take forever to even buy anything, but its utter madness

I wanted to upgrade so I sold my rx 5600 xt for 500 a few days ago. The idea is to put a few money towards it and get something.
    3060ti’s going for over 1000, I can’t even get a 2070 super for 700...

I've a genuine nVidia Riva TNT AGP version for sale if anyone wants it, a bargain at a €1000....

I'm joking now, but at the rates things are going, this may soon be possible.

I think you can forget about 2021 regarding stock and pricing issues...
Twitter techies saying they have heard from amd and nvidia and that both companies wont be close to having parity with demand until at least the end of quarter 4 this year...sigh

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,411 ✭✭✭✭Skerries

so they will probably skip this years refresh of cards till next year if their current line up is going to be in demand for the foreseeable

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,411 ✭✭✭✭Skerries

Linus was actually just saying that he reckons it won't be till this time next year that the markets get back to msrp and availability
