Seems the Bora tactics are keep the break on a tight leash until 75km in when it gets lumpy then try and blow it to bits, postelberger is a big loss to them though!

Bora didn’t push on the cat 4 climb. All the peloton over together including Sam, Ewan, Sagan etc

From the TDF website live feed...
Peter Sagan spoke to TV this morning. "Maybe two more sprinting stages, today and after in Paris", the Slovakian said. "Today's a little bit more up and down. We will see. We try to control. I think also with other teams we're going to come to the sprint. It's very difficult because Sam is always on my wheel if I want to try to go in the break, or stuff like that. And after he's faster in the sprint, you know. We are sprinting, I don't know, 200-300 metres for the sprint, then taking points. Then we will see. I have to try my best in the sprint, and we'll see how it's going. I will try.

Cavagna killing himself out front on his own... what was the game plan there? Will he hold on til intermediate sprint? Surprised that nobody else managed to get away with him.

15 kms to intermediate sprint. Sam in peloton

Ewan coming up now , he could help Sam here taking points away from Sagan.

I've seen rival supermarket chains giving out polka dot t-shirts as well. The official website has Carrefour as the sponsor - I'd say E Leclerc would hit the roof if they read the English page! :D

Seems weird that the mountains classification is almost always sponsored by a supermarket as well

Unless he's being that sound (and I know they're good mates) I really can't understand why he's up there. He has no interest in green jersey anyway.

This breakaway suits Sam down to the ground

    Another point ahead of Sagan.
9 for Bennet in the IS
    8 for Sagan
Odds on now to finish in green, its Sams to loose now! 53 point lead.

More points for Sam ahead of sagan.

Job done for now Sam. Sit back and relax to the finish. Think we'll see Cavagna drift back to the peleton now.

Assuming no TT points for either he will be wearing green on Sunday start so yep looks like his to lose

No time to relax he has to chase down Sagans attempt to join breakaway

With 120 points available for Sagan, Sam needs 67 points from the next 3 sprints to be uncatchable - 3rd today, 3rd in Paris and top 3 in the intermediate sprint on the way to Paris would mean even if Sagan wins all of them he wouldn't catch Sam.

Is there an intermediate sprint on the last stage?

If Sam finishes ahead of Sagan in a bunch sprint then is he guaranteed green jersey winner?

Yes, on the Champs Elysees with 40km to go

Yes there is an intermediate on Sunday

And yes if he wins the stage and Sagan comes second he will lock it up, he will be +74 over Sagan with 70 to play for in the last stage.

But as said the Time Trial offers points but its unlikely either will be involved

Not necessarily. He'd need a gap of 70 points going into the last stage to be 100% sure. i.e. even if he crashed and rolled in 10 minutes after the bunch he'd still win it.

Tim Declerq going up the road, would have liked to seem him pulling Sam to today's finish. Is the hope that there will be be enough people up the road that the finish won't matter?

Sam mentioned a while ago that he was going to concentrate on green at the expense of chasing stages. It's a win-win for them - have a man in the break in case it stays away and also save them from having to ride at the front of the peleton.

Had this been the first week I think you'd have seen them playing it differently.

You'd think DQS would want to keep it together for Sam and not be attacking ?

Green jersey is their number one priority now rather than stage wins.

Stringing out the peloton probably damages all the sprinters equally and could mean none of his competitors get any points
