Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great effort here by Ulster. I don't think they'll manage it but they can't be faulted.

Lowry looks like a man destined for a long time in the green shirt.

    What?

Anyway McCloskey should have done better but one on one tackles to save tries is the problem

    Ulster haven't even threatened

    Box kicks to be banned

As much as I hate to say it. He is too small. I know it’s an obvious thing to say but for all his talent he wouldn’t survive at test level.

A game like today is ideal for him. He’ll get a chance to shine when the ball is turned over

He's the same height as Kolbe. 10 more kgs and he'd be the same weight.

Well done Henderson, chance for field position and get a few phases together

Jesus Barnes took long enough to blow that

Marty Moore must weigh about the same as a Ford Fiesta but his carrying doesn’t seem to benefit from it.

that maul never looked settled, disappointing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,723 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Kolbe just boshed McCloskey. If that isn't a sign to say game over I don't know what is.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

    well crap, that's the game

    Game over.

Cooney taken out as he tries to pass at that maul. I know they're losing anyone but the refereeing is inept

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,706 ✭✭✭clsmooth

Nice phase for Dupont there. Prevents Little getting a hit on Huget. Follows it up by running a nice support line. He’s been excellent.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Utah_Saint

Clinically Obese forwards with probably the best backline in Europe...

I think McCloskey is injured tbh.

In fairness to Stu. Kolbe is a freak
Small and powerful with the quickest feet in world rugby

Criminal from Reidy to slip off that tackle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

I know McCloskey is hurt, but that's still an awful bit of defending against Kolbe. Handed off by a player he's three stone heavier than.

Ah yeah his elbows in bits, but just the sheer sight of it was unreal

The Irish players really have turned into a bunch of veginas the last 18 months but getting put on your ass by Cheslin Kolbe a new low. No fight whatsoever, just roll over and accept the inevitable beating.

Ulster don't even attempt to "block" runners chasing up box kicks leaving the catcher totally exposed. No idea of the dark arts.

Yep compare Lowry getting smashed by two players a few minutes ago to Hugets take before the Dupont try. Irish rugby in general seems behind the 8 ball with regards to this.

Lowry going to ground will be jackaled by anyone.

Performance in the deck is masterclass by Toulouse Ulster not at the races

Kolbe completely free catch when surrounded by white shirts.

Yup. No tackler has to exert any effort to put him down. Allows them a comfortable release and opportunity to clamp over the ball if there's a sniff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,870 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

To be fair to Lowry he's not afraid to get stuck in.

Particularly when his support players are nowhere to be seen.

Anyone going to ground will be jackalled by anyone, if the support isn't good enough. How would there be a difference when you're meant to release the ball immediately.

Agreed, there is fight in him. Others should follow his lead

Look at the size of Tekori!
    & Mefau looks even bigger!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,386 ✭✭✭schmoo2k

This is where reducing the number of subs will help balance the size of the players somewhat...

    WHERE ARE THE FORWARDS

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Utah_Saint

Stockdale is fortunate Balacoune is injured. Lyttle and Balacoune will be first choice.

    He’s a warrior
Huget targeting him. Typical of Barabas

Sam Carter waste of NIQ spot.
    Wheres our georgian prop?
Mcgrath has had a crap game.
    Stockdales had a mare

    Lowrys shone up well though.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,110 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

What was that kick about. Why do that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,859 ✭✭✭ionadnapokot

If you at least take contact on your terms and power into the tackle, the tackler is not going to be in a position to poach. He'll be on the ground with you.

In that instance, Lowry was just pushed to the deck. The tackler didn't have to commit any effort and had his body already in position for the steal.

I meant that he hasn't the strength to get his body position right and turn to present the ball. Any opposition player will easily be strong enough to get over him and hold him.

Judging by your name you'll be lucky to see a vagina in 2020.

Cunningham needs to think about some of the recent signings.
Carter has been a waste of time.

Really impressed with Lowry. Hasn't let his head drop and looks to counter every time he gets the ball.

Need to get him on "Chicken, broccoli and Rice" that got South Africa and Kolbe so jacked...

His size is going to be a real problem at 10. Teams are just going to line him up over and over.

Looks electric when he has the ball. Hopefully he can be accommodated somewhere.
