There are no depths to which they will not sink - and i'm talking both sides.

The hyperbole and vitriol is utterly absurd.

If Trump wins, Americans will live in a right leaning democracy.

If Biden wins, Americans will live in a left leaning democracy.

In both cases the sun will continue to rise every morning, people will go to work and raise their kids.

Do we need old man Biden with his finger on the button?

    More than ever yes.

Oh come on. Just on immigration alone the democrats have begun expressing views which historically have only ever been expressed by radical leftists. Also, when it comes to social issues such as equality, identity politics, political correctness etc, the democrats absolutely lean to the left. It's absurd to suggest they do not when we hear it out of their mouths regularly.

When there were calls from the left to defund the police, Biden was quick to appease them with:
"I don’t believe police should be defunded, but I think the conditions should be placed upon them where departments are having to take significant reform relating to that. We should set up a national use-of-force standard. If they don’t sign onto it, then in fact, they don’t get any of the federal money..

The democrats become more leftleaning as each day passes.

The democrats are obviously better than the GOP and I'd vote Biden if I was a yank, but the party which was corporate leaning has been infiltrated and arguably taken by over by Never Trumpers. Biden and his team brag about endorsements from Kasich, Mc Cain etc while ghouls like Frum, Kristol and the ****ing lincoln project (neoconservatism for" liberals") dominate the internet with their support of him.

Those on the right who feel that the Democrats will pivot to the left under Biden are crazy, why the hell is wallstreet lining up to give money to Biden?

How would you describe the Obama Healthcare act, rightest?

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,692 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

Joe Biden nor the Democrats are left leaning.

Don't think you could call Bernie and AOC anything but Left wing.

I know Biden, Pelosi etc wouldn't be as far left but don't think you could call them Right either.

Left and Right becomes relevant in the context of each particular environment.
Left and Right in Ireland is v different to Left and Right in the US for example.

The individual mandate was originally put forward by the Heritage Foundation (conservative think thank) back in the late 80s/early 90s as the solution to healthcare.

There is no Left in America and the idea that the Democrats are is laughable. Even the likes of Sanders and Cortez are middle-the-roads. The two parties are peas in a pod, made up of liars, charlatans and frauds who lie to fools willing to lap everything up. Both parties are neo-Liberal in their politics, with a hair's breadth ostensibly separating them on minor issues.

I really do pity the floating voter in the States. Their so called political "choices" are routinely appalling and at the end of the day, nothing really changes for the people of the country.

When Bernie Sanders is considered a left wing radical you know just how conservative your political system is.

Allow three days for the Democrats doing nothing but vile lecturing, her and us, under the guise of questioning Amy Coney Barrett, and then vote to confirm the extremely qualified justice to sit on the SCOTUS. Sounds fair to me.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

Cortez's Green New Deal was pretty left. It is the kind of thing Saoirse McHugh endorses, what she in terviews calls eco-socialism. Sanders also described himself as socialist. He has always endorsed socialist states. he had his honeymoon in the USSR. I am not sure if you can be centre if you call yourself socialist? Maybe if they use the word social democrat but not socialist.

It's not what I would call "left". Being green isn't necessarily a left position. There are plenty of green conservatives too. But so what? That still doesn't make either Cortez or Sanders any more than middle-the-roads in reality.

They are milquetoast "left" as strawmanned by the right, because there isn't any left in America. Even traditional Social Democrats you mention would put them in the shade re: social policy.

As for Sanders, he was scuppered twice by the Democrats in favour of more conservative candidates like Clinton and Biden, which shows how "left" they are.

What exactly makes her "extremely qualified", she has been a judge for 3 years.

You think it's ok for someone who believes that there shouldn't be a separation of church and state to sit on the SCOTUS?

Of course he is, no one is arguing he isn't.

Some people are arguing he shouldn't as the Republican Senate set a precedent in 2016.

    Clear

Google Merrick Garland. That’s exactly why the Republicans should get to nominate before the election.

I get the feeling you're not at all confused.

He is allowed. No one is saying he isn't. In fact no one is really criticising Trump. It's the Senate GOP that are acting the maggot.

    its a question of fact.

so can the president to this?

any nays, please tell me why . i'm clueless or please let me in.

You are confusing "can" with "should".
"Can" you take a dump in your pants instead of going to the toilet? Yes, you can.

    "Should" you do this? No.

Social Democrat is a bull**** term. Socialism is Socialism no matter they want to dress it up. And the end goal to Socialism is always full blown Communism.

Socialism is compatible with liberty and democracy whereas Communism involves creating an equal society through an authoritarian state, which denies basic liberties.

How you describe socialism is how Trump describes socialism, i.e. wrong. Think more Scandinavian countries and not USSR.
