Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not a hope of a straight scrum

Ref has made his decision on the scrums.

This game is infuriating to watch. Saracens crooked as **** all match and Gauzere just letting them away with it.

Leinster ****ed themselves out of this game

Scrum ultimately the winning and losing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,225 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    That's that.

Great effort in the second half, but Saracens miles the better side. Killed us in the first half.

Seatbelt by Itoje - not the Ringrose tackle , the one before that.

How he’s still on the pitch is a mystery, he gets away with murder.

    Nothing wrong with ref.

    Seriously?
    Missed offsides
    Crooked throws missed.
In from the side at mauls.
    Wrong ruck calls

Unbelievable the scum shots they've got away with.

However, its gone now. Left ourselves too much to do in the first 25. Cant be doing what we did, loosing all the head to heads.

Another scrum penalty. Whoever is coaching that must be very close to a p45

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,924 ✭✭✭KH25

Constant high tackles from Itoje ignored all day. The last one on Ringrose in particular. Disgraceful reffing.

JGP probably didn't need to force that pass. But without him we wouldn't have scored our second try. Swings and roundabouts.

Gutted, scrum killed us, some great play in second half, but too late. 6N Ireland v England will be the same to watch. Maybe Leavy will be back and a bit of heft to help.

Does anyone actually believe Leinster would have won with a different ref?

A fair ref and the result would have been very different.
A competent organizing committee and Sarries wouldn’t even be in the competition.

Christ, the lad destroyed his knee over a year ago let’s not throw him into an international game just yet.

Hell of an effort to get even close after the first half in fairness, but just couldn't claw it back after the dismal showing for the first 40 minutes.

Sarries just outplayed us across the park. Their pack completely dominated, and they played the ref well as they always do.

    No.
    They were stronger today.

Great fight in the second half but the damage was done in the first. Scrum was particularly bad, same with our maul. Disappointing.

Stop pissing and moaning about the ref. He's not the reason the game was lost or even close to it.

7/8 scrum penalties means it's a massive uphill task from there. Leinster deserve credit for making a game of it as they were completely demolished in the first half.

The scrum cost us the game not the referee.

God I hate that shower of sneering, cheating, arrogant c**ts.

Look the ref was awful but it doesn't take away from the ****show the first half was for Leinster.

Ref had too much of a sway on that game and I don't buy Leinsters scrum falling apart like that legally.

Leinster not good enough at the breakdown, too many unforced mistakes and couldn't break Saracena down. We lacked composure but Saracens really had our number and looked like they were ready for anything we threw at them.

Six months of prep for one game will do that.

Pathetic from Leinster, embarrassed at home

Maybe but that's not to say Leinster deserved to win. Sarries by far the better team in every department and utterly dominant in the scrum

    Yes.
Yellow card for the Sexton high hit, policing of the offside line, and things would have looked very different imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,517 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

The referee couldn't even make a call on the Sexton challenge being a foul despite it being obvious to the world it was a foul.

Ultimately the loss is Leinsters fault and shortcoming but the referee has enormously exasperated it.

The amount of fouls or offside he and his team missed was too high also.

As I said though, Leinster can only blame themselves but the referee made the mountain a bit higher.

Didn't expect that result. That's not a great saracens team but some performance by them

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭A-Train

Leinster only themselves to blame, the ref had a factor in it no doubt and I just can’t get over how Itoje gets away with so much in every game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

We gave too much away too easily in the first 20-25 mins. Gave them momentum and daylight on the board. They were superb in the first 40 and did to us what we've been doing to everyone else.

At least we made a game of it in the second half. But sloppiness killed us in the final quarter. And the scrum. Dear Lord the scrum. That said, they seemed to be allowed bore in at 90 degrees at will in the scrum and def bought a few penalties that way. We just couldn't deal with it. And that's on us.

Sure how long was Farrell getting away with it til his luck ran out.

There was a lot of chest beating here and sniggering at Munster fans for complaining about the ref over the two losses.

I commented at the time that Leinster fans have forgotten what it’s like to lose and the associated referee critiquing that comes with it. Yet here we are.

Hard luck to the Leinster fans, caught in a bit of an ambush todays. Saracens out fought them. Well done Saracens, hopefully they get caught in the semis.
