Well, this is something. EDF2 (the PSVita remake of the original game) is coming to Switch. Look at dem next-gen graphics :D

Also a new trailer for EDF6, but not much in it apart from...you seem to be shooting a lot of giant bugs :P

EDF2 is a ps2 game originally. And it looked ropey for a ps2 game.

It's an incredible game though, one of the best in the series. Love it.

    Hoping it comes to pc.

Yea but its a Switch game, it doesn't need nice graphics because of the amazing art or something.

From what I can garner from Google translate the plot is that this time the bugs have come to take our Hovis.

I don't know about EDF graphics but that zoo games hopping distorting animal sprites are excessively twee for me to look at for more than 15 seconds.

Saw a tweet saying most of the character designers who worked on Spyro remake & Crash 4 have been let go because they studio was moved on to COD.

Not uncommon in games. Art team gets hired and kept on until all the art assets are created, then they either get moved on to a new early phase project or if there isn't they all get fired other than a skeleton crew until the next project.

CoD will consume us all. You'll walk into your job tomorrow and be told you're support staff for CoD. You'll think "But I'm a scaffolder?"

Doesn't matter, you work for CoD now.

Wow, Devs will really notice the €10 from all those tens of sales on the windows store.......

All jokes aside, this is probably the most minor of news relating to the platform coming out this month, the biggest being that MS is going to allow apps to be on the platform without being containerised. It'll result in faster and more reliable downloads, and should allowing modding far more easier than it is currently.

While the dream of Gamepass on Steam would be lovely, that's never going to happen, so any improvement to the Windows Store is very welcome.

So basically MS are doing what they should have done from the beginning and going back on what everyone and their dog told them wouldn't fly on PC and would kill the store ten years ago.

Just saw official PlayStation magazine is wrapping up. It will become just Play magazine and avoid letting staff go which is always good.

Dropping the official tag I presume allows it to cover all platforms.

That's the last of those "official" mags gone now with Nintendo and Xbox also closed. At one point it was selling half a million copies a month.

It was always awful though other than the exclusive tag getting it some good demos.

Play is already a PlayStation focused mag, so it's consolidating them and just losing the license?

The bit that made me laugh most, and seemed topical to the times we lived in, was how the RCT Devs worked 100% remotely. Which in the days before USB keys and the internet, meant posting each other floppy disks of their respective work. Sometimes it needs reminding that we have never had it so good, or so easy :D

Speaking of platform specific works, are there any YouTube content makers that are specific to PlayStation or XBox in the way the likes of Arlo is Nintendo only? I know we have things like ign Beyond but they have a podcast for each.

Rollercoaster tycoon is 20 years old.

    That actually made me cry

There are a few but they tend to be extremely fanboy-ish

Some great games in this batch, didn't think that they'd release so many at once. Be great if they kept up this cadence.

A rare peek behind the curtain (reportedly thanks to some published-too-early documents from the big Apple vs Epic lawsuit)... here’s how much Epic paid for all those free games they gave out:

And an explanation of what some of those numbers mean:

Seems Sony have trademarked Sunset Overdrive potentially leading to a release on PlayStation. While released as an Xbox/Windows exclusive Insomniac retained the rights to the IP.

I’m fascinated at just how secretive the video game industry is around sales, exclusivity deals etc... This Apple v Epic lawsuit is a goldmine of info. The Epic Game Store is such a ludicrous thing.
