So Blizzard/Activision are now being accused by the state of California for shredding and deleting evidence of abuse at the company.

And enforcing NDAs to prevent employees from speaking with investigators.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,603 ✭✭✭✭Penn

The investigators have also expanded the investigation to include contract workers, not just employees.

Oh and Activision-Blizzard have hired a law firm that specialises in holding up these investigations.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,879 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

The same law firm (Wilmer Hale) that's helping Amazon prevent its workers from unionising.

New Saints Row out on February 25th 2022.... No gameplay so hard to gauge. Teaser video was a bit meh. Has potential though.

EDIT: Small gameplay teaser afterwards but too hard to discern anything.

That SR reveal has killed my hype a bit. I was actually rooting for the red gang to kill the purple hipsters. Well see what else they have in store but so far looks like a mix between SR 3 and Watch Dogs 2 :(

The Marvel xcom game sounds **** class, can't wait to see gameplay but that's pretty much day 1 for me.

    Some details on the game

We have our targets locked on a brand new city – Santo Ileso – a melting pot of big city business and darkened alley street crime, the perfect place to start a new criminal empire and the biggest and best playground we have ever created. Also, on a side note, the best Tacos in the American South West, (Chalupracarbra has a certain “kick” to it, if you know what I mean). The law in this city? Never heard of her. You don’t become self-made by following laws, right? Well, if you do – it sounds SUPER boring, so we’ll do it our way, thanks. The city offers a range of criminal ventures to further your interests (and make some sweet cash to boot – rent doesn’t pay itself).

You play as whoever you want in your journey from Newbie to Boss, kicking ass and fighting… well not crime obviously. We’ll talk more about our most extensive character creator ever in time, but it wouldn’t be a Saints Row game if you couldn’t roleplay in a range of roles from bank manager to green-skinned zombie alien monster, would it? Wherever you are in that spectrum, you do you, or.. not, we’re here for it. Plus, as is the custom, we have seamless untethered co-op so you and a friend can create those Saints Row moments together – friendship really is magic.

Check out the full feature list:

    • Witness the Birth of The Saints – Play through an action blockbuster original story full of criminality, extraordinary scenes and signature surprises laced with humor.
    • Discover the Weird, Wild, West – Dive in to Santo Ileso, the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever, spread across nine unique districts surrounded by the vast, majestic beauty of the Southwest Desert.
    • Build Your Criminal Empire – Take over the city block by block, wage war against enemy factions and tighten your grip on the streets with ingenious criminal ventures.
    • Fire Guns. LOTS of Guns – Shoot revolvers from the hip, fire and forget with a rocket launcher, or obliterate up close using melee heavyweights, complete with brutal takedowns. A vast variety of familiar and exotic weapons, all customizable, and all deadly fun.
    • Take to the Streets and the Skies – Blast through urban and desert environments in any one of the cars, bikes, planes, helicopters, VTOLs, hoverbikes, hoverboards, go-karts or equip your wingsuit to swoop around.
    • Unprecedented Customization – Create the Boss of your dreams, with the most extensive character customization suite ever seen in the series, then complete the look with incredible options for weapons and vehicles.
    • Seamless Co-Op – Experience everything on offer with a friend at any time, via fully untethered drop-in / drop-out co-op, skipping the need to take either of you out of the outlandish action; play nice together, or play all new pranks on your team mate. After all, who’s the Boss now?

Great to see Lego Skywalker Saga still exists. Looks absolutely brilliant.

Hard to get excited about a "Spring 2022" release date though.

Aren't all New gen consoles "limited edition"?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,940 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

    Yes 😊

This is a limited limited edition.

They should pop out the Series S with 3 months free GamePass for 200 quid this santa season. Would do serious business. It seems to be readily available these days.

Loved horizon dawn . Hopefully forbidden west will be as good

It's a tactical RPG. I don't think it's going to be like XCOM at all, unfortunately.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,808 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Does that sound more like Wastelands? I picked up Wastelands 3 but haven't played it yet. Interesting to see the gameplay soon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,879 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

I'm actually looking for a story whose headline I saw earlier. It said Midnight Suns will be nothing like XCOM, but I can't find the source now. So there's still hope that this could well have a some shared DNA with XCOM.

Tactical RPGs can be pretty varied, but yeah, Wastelands would be classed as one.

Man, that Saints Row trailer was so uninspired.

Saints Row was a GTA-clone but it separated itself by having its own personality and some great characters. That trailer looked like such generic muck.

    Edit:

Blergh. From taking on the Yakuza and the military to being a "millennial" paying off student loans. G'way with this gack.

All they need to do is add Moon Knight and Morbius as the remaining team members and that should be enough for me to offset the foul taste of corporate interference with the inclusion of the big MCU names. Definitely looking forward to this in any case, hopefully the gameplay reveal lives up to the hype.

Overwatch will be renaming McCree, given that the real McCree who he was named after was implicated in the Activision-Blizzard investigations.

I imagine their Senior Environment Designer, Steve Soldier-76, is glad he wasn't named in the investigations.

Someone on reddit found a few design/concept videos for some of the locations in Starfield.

Bethesda have lost their sheen, I am nowhere near as excited for this as I would have been 10 years ago. They used to be at the cutting edge of the open world RPG genre and now they have been left behind.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 36,322 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

I'm somewhere in between those above two opinions. A new Bethesda IP and an open-world one, cut from the cloth of Elder Scrolls & Fallout is cause for genuine excitement in me - especially as it's going to be set in space (SPACE!!), causing yet more hype. Equally though, I am a warm body that played Breath of the Wild and experienced what a sandbox RPG can be with a little mustard in its energy. Bethesda's flavour suddenly a little blander, a tiny bit more disappointing. Still that same delicious meal I love but I know there are more interesting tastes out there (I'll stop the analogy, sorry).

What I think I'd love, is to see Bethesda junk that old much-patched Gamebryo fork used for their Open World games; start fresh, from scratch. Take the genre leaders that aren't their games and see what made them tick. Recharge their properties a little bit with something new and interesting - beyond the change of setting that is. Now, maybe that's precisely what they ARE doing with Starfield but I'd honestly be unsurprised if it's just the Fallout 4 iteration of their engine, now with space travel bolted in like a half-assed No Man's Sky.

Still though. New Bethesda open-world. Lowercase woo.

When was the last time Bethesda has made a good open world game though? Skyrim was a massive step back and dumbing down of the franchise, Fallout 4 was rubbish and Fallout 76 was a complete disaster. 76 might be good now as some people say it is but it was released in an awful state. I'm going to remain very skeptical about this one.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 36,322 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

I'd not have said Skyrim was dumbed down, not at all. I know the hardcore Elder Scroll types lament the games aren't as impenetrably dense as they were at their height with Morrowind, but there was always a bit of a PC Master Race whiff there. Skyrim was IMO the series' zenith; even if, like I said, subsequent games like BotW made it feel a bit retrospectively quaint.
