Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah dry heat is fine, I am well used to that. Loved playing in dry heat also.

Kids haven't been sleep well the last nights. Am putting it down to the heat so makes everyone a bit agitated when we are all tired!

    Ditto.

Playing in humid conditions is hell on earth though... remember one tournament in the first game where I honestly thought I was going to suffocate... my lungs just couldnt get the oxygen in fast enough... got subbed off in the second half as I was convinced I was going to faint. Was grand for the remaining games but that first one was such a shock. Awful...

I feel that, I have been on drips after games and passed out. It's scary when you cant catch your breath and its roasting, jersey stuck to you. You could always spot the new joiners from colder climates. Our season would start in early September with temperatures up to the late 30's and humid. it was a horror show, I would be sick for days after each game.

Anyway, I have taken step 1 of the addition program, I have admitted to my wife that I have already started listening to Christmas podcasts. She was disappointed but not surprised.

My Mrs thinks its hilarious when she hears me listening to them in the background when WFH, or even the odd time I stick on Christmas FM classical (though admittedly I havent done that in a couple of months now)

Though I must admit when listening to a Tinsel Tunes podcast yesterday reviewing Robbie Williams Christmas Present album from 2019 I did get an urge to stick some of it on... I thought that was a decent album to be fair.

That Robbie album was actually pretty good alright, although I don't actually remember hearing it until 2020!

Same. I only heard both singles from it (Time for change & Cant stop Christmas) on Christmas FM in last years build up, think it was Loughc who told me it had been released the year before & was surprised it had gone completely under my radar, especially as RW would be a guilty pleasure of mine.

My wife will make various references to my 'online Christmas friends' when we are talking about anything Christmas related :D

    I get the same.
Mrs Jude: "Where did you hear about XYZ?"
    Jude: "on the Christmas forum.."
    Mrs Jude: "Sado"

In fairness she just doesnt want me winding up the youngest elf this early.

Me three... when i mention the christmas forum its inevitably followed by a rolling of the eyes or a 'cuckoo' sound... :)

My wife is used to it at this stage. Covid has scuppered my annual summer visit to the M50 Christmas Shop though, but will get there for a look soon. :)

    Tell me about it!

I have to take Friday off as couldn't face another 5 day week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,516 ✭✭✭✭DvB

This week is most definitely dragging its ar$e... feels like its gone on forever. I suspect being in the office so much has affected that. The traffic on the drive home has been really bad all week with it taking at least an hour every evening. I'm hoping when public transport goes back to full capacity it eases a little but Isuspect thats wishful thinking on my part.

Still, its Friday now so we're nearly there. Just a week from the christmas equinox!!

My €6 Christmas tree arrived on Friday.
    I'm happy with it!

I'm at my parents for the first time since Christmas. Even better, my siblings will be here later - first time in 2 years we'll all be together. It feels like Christmas!

Post a pic of the tree if you get a chance, would love to see it, great buy.

It feels like the countdown goes down by 10 days every 3 or 4 days sometimes :) can't wait for halfway.

Hope you and your family had a good day, Caranica. :)

Much better weather than expected today, always a nice surprise!

One of my family members had their second vaccine dose today, and the others are due in the next couple of weeks. Now that I can register next week, I'm hoping that everyone in my family will be vaccinated to some extent by the start of July. Feeling pretty hopeful now. Plus, I'm getting pizza later, which helps my mood. :pac:

Happy Fathers Day to all the Daddy's out there, enjoy.

Going to have a few pints later for the first time in a long time so a pint and a match on the telly with a friend, it's the little things that keep us men happy :)

My pal took delivery of his model 3 long range on Friday. apart from it being terrifyingly quick the other great feature is that there is a santa mode which he put on and then couldn't turn off.

Had a great day yesterday, relaxing family time, can't beat it.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Bit of a drop in temperature this morning, short still on however had to dust off a fleece for what seemed liked the first time in ages!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,351 ✭✭✭Littlehorny

Longest day of the year is today, so days will get shorter little by little in the next couple of months.

Can't say this at home because the wife will give me a clip across the ear, she hates the darker evenings :)

    Happy Monday all!

Had a lovely week last week as hubby was off. Went to the beach, the zoo and just chilled out.

Friends we haven't seen since a good bit before Covid hit called to our garden with their 2 kids so my little boy had a great time playing with them. So nice to finally see him socialising!

I also became an auntie on Friday to a gorgeous little boy :D

Hope everyone here is keeping well :)

Sounds like you had a great week alright - it's great to be reverting to normality.
Congratulations on becoming an Auntie :)

Back to the grindstone today after a lovely few days away. We went to Fota over the weekend with the kids and it was just brilliant. Actually think it was better than Dublin Zoo...much wider spacing, more relaxed, no crushes trying to see the animals and it was a full day out too. Last time we went to Dublin Zoo, we were around the one way system in no time. Lots more picnic benches etc too in Fota, highly recommend if you are down that neck of the woods :D

Also registered for my vaccine too :D

It was really lovely and we were blessed with the weather! There aren't a lot of shelters so on a wet day, you'd defo want the rain gear.

Ours finish this day week, so we've only 2 years left at primary school level now... scary that 6 years have gone by so quickly.

As we build our year around the school holidays, its a solid stepping stone in the year for them finishing up for the summer. The 8 weeks they're off will fly by and before we know it they'll be heading back to 5th class... thats when the countdown to christmas starts in earnest for us, then when we hit the 99 days in mid september, hold on to your horses as we're heading in to a rapid descent!!

Our youngest is finished his Leaving Cert this week so damn I feel old! :)
Will have to wait for grandkids for Santy to return properly to the house, saying that our oldest is 27 and still gets presents from Santy.

My Dad (75) buys himself a big present (usually Lego) and writes from Santa on the tag. Last Christmas this caused a lot of questions from my then 5yo about how Santa knew what to get him as he didn't write him a letter!

Little things like this sum up the magic of Christmas for me :)
