Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Elf number 2 for me and the wife arrived safely this morning weighting a nice 8lbs 4oz another boy.

Believe it or not this wasn’t planned out this way but both elves were born in December.

Awh @Loughc massive congratulations to you all!! Such fantastic news! Welcome to the world little man 💙

My 2 are both August babies and it's actually very handy for remembering their dates of birth when asked 🤣

Faith in humanity restored. Went to SuperValu and not only were all the decorations still up but they were playing full on proper Christmas songs! I was in my element going around.

Lovely news @Loughc. Congratulations to you and your wife. Am sure it will be a lovely sight to witness come next December watching Elf 1 explain everything in his own way to Elf 2 as Christmas approaches.

My local SuperValu can have bits of Christmas, Halloween, St.Valentines Day and Easter all year round.

😂 they always claim to love Christmas start shopping in July they have had the tree down on St.Stephen’s day before it doesn’t make sense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,898 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

I hope you reported them to the Christmas police 😂.

Yes!!! Such a pet peeve. The kind of gobshites that put up on instagram on 1st November a picture of their tree up and the tree won’t even see new years.

Busy busy days for us here; I think yesterday was the first day I drew breath properly!

We had a lovely Christmas Day with my folks but unfortunately had to make a trip to A&E with our youngest on Christmas night 😭 Wouldn't be Christmas now if we didn't get a visit in somewhere between Christmas & the New Year lol! Thankfully we were in & out in 90 mins, a record!

We hit St. Stephens Day running with the annual swim in Clogherhead! Thankfully, the tide was in so we were in deep enough in jig time. I found it lovely, some of the rest of the group thought otherwise! Big family dinner in my parents then with the annual games night!

Was just about to say the exact same thing, it's all "look at me" with these types. No real Christmas spirit in them at all.

We're celebrating Christmas tonight. We got back from holidays this afternoon. Kids got their presents that Santa left. Great excitement. I'm settling to watch Christmas vacation now.

Finally got to have a look in the shops, first time since before Christmas as I've been working all week and very disappointed that the shops have basically all packed everything away! I picked up lots of stuff last year the weekend after Christmas. The one little thing I got was this bauble for the Christmas tree next year. Got it in Brand Max

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,971 ✭✭✭SarahLil

Oh that’s amazing @dubstepper Happy Christmas

Just thinking about this time last week I love the run up to Christmas

Not long back from visiting friends this afternoon we had a lovely time just settling down with a G&T and abit of tv

We are going to do a roast tomorrow then do the same for New Years Day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,238 ✭✭✭jellybear

We also had a mini Christmas today!😄 My family were sick over Christmas so we only got to call down today to exchange presents. It was lovely seeing my 4 year old so excited again when his presents were given to him 😆

We started the birthday shopping today, twins birthday in January and it always feels weird picking up more gifts so soon.

Had a lovely day with the inlaws because the BIL is heading back at the crack of dawn to the US withe the wife and kids after a great 10 days here. Dinner around the corner with Mrs H's parents, BIL and Co and my gang.

My two girls in floods of tears because they probably won't see their cousins in the flesh for another 2 years 🥹

Anyway, tomorrow is another day - they'll get to meet my nephew and his kid for the first time so it's still full-on Christmas family stuff.

In other news, a friend of mine had stuck up a post on Instagram showing the tree coming down and a poll asking did anyone else do it that early. FFS... 🙄

I saw someone put up a video of her dancing around an empty sitting room going so much more room now. And people were commenting like it didn’t even see the new year. And her reply was each their own I guess.

One of comments was spot on. Commercialism has killed Christmas.

Had a few pints last night with my brother and a few of our cousins last night so feeling a little tender this morning, the weather is lousy today so will relax at home today. Going round to my wife's brother's house this evening for New Years Eve so have to get in shape for that, in shape?? The belly is growing by the day ha ha.

What are all you Elves doing this evening?

All going well I’m bringing my wife and baby home today. Can’t imagine we’ll be awake to ring in the new year unless the little man is due a feed or has other ideas 😂😂

We're hosting for a few neighbours tonight so expect a late one, not back in work until Wednesday though so at least I have some time to recover.

Last blast of Christmas FM too for the season tonight, seemed to go by extremely quickly this year and I definitely listened to less Christmas music than any other year I can remember so must remedy that for 2024.

Quiet day and night ahead hopefully..feels like a normal Sunday not New Years Eve roast going in the oven shortly having my mam around for dinner probably some picky bits tonight if we are peckish watching tv I hope to get an early night

Just spent the morning dressing Barbie’s, baby dolls and horses tidying the doll house taking a coffee and mince pie break

I didn’t get to watch as many Christmas movies as I wanted or to listen to Christmas fm as much as I liked but I know Christmas’s to come that will change

    Have a good one Elves
