Well, I've spent the last few hours reading over the thread from Christmas Day and taking notes.

Congratulations to @Loughc and your new elf and to all those with good news. I think somebody did a masters.

Thinking of @BK5 and your family also.

I haven't won the Lotto at anystage. I got a few €4. There's a new ticket called an All Cash Surprise costs €7 which we won €20 in. It has an online game also than you scan a QR code.

Decorations came down in early January. Took the boxes out of the attic along with the Easter Decorations and they still all boxed up in the spare room. I took down the little train in my bedroom last week also.

No snow for me just sleety rain.

I can still select XMAS FM in my car but I can just hear static but sometimes it picks up another station and I can pretend.

It's hard to believe 2020 was four years ago. We all know what happened. The shops were crazy this time four years ago.

We're also nearly half ways through March and we'll have quatre of the year done in about two weeks.

The evenings are certainly getting brighter!

    Loving the catch up @freshpopcorn

It is great to see we're almost through the first (& usually the toughest) quarter of the year already. Have a feeling this year is going to go by on fast forward if those 3 months are anything to go by.

Loving the brighter mornings & evenings myself, really notice it on the drives to & from work. Wont be long before we're back training on grass too rather than on floodlit astro's. Always something I look forward to every year.

Was out for a walk over the weekend and noticed that the parks were finally getting the grass cut and the smell was gorgeous! That smell always makes me think of summer.

@smelltheglove Ah, now I see a photo of it, I do indeed know it to see. Was never in it but will certainly now :-) reading the Met Eireann site, Friday sounds like the best day and I have the clutch fixed so Tramore here I come :-) the clutch was about to fall off apparently so just as well i didn’t risk going the other day! buying the winning euromils ticket while there and going to win a load of tickets at the slots and the nephew can use them in the summer :-)

I think this morning was the first morning that we had breakfast without the lights now. Great to see it - I love the bright mornings. I don't mind the darker evenings so much, but I hate getting up when it's still dark. Mind you, it is still raining. I think it stopped for a brief hour yesterday. Must look up the forecast for Sunday - we got destroyed at the parade last year.

Forecast for the next while is showers, showers, wind and the odd shower.

    Did I mention showers?

Ah lads stop the weather has me broken. Finally saw a bit of blue sky this morning and then it proceeds to rain.

The forecast for the next 10 days is not any better as well. I miss the sun. I think it used to be green in colour?!

    Pig sick of wet weather.

I don't mind the cold, happy to wrap up & get out & do something active, but the rain can do one at this stage.

Speaking of Easter decorations, passed a house on Monday with a big inflatable Easter bunny in the front garden, was going by too fast to spot if there was anything else besides it. I wonder will that take off now with people going all out for decorating for Easter in the garden, the same way it has with Christmas and Halloween decorating. Even yesterday I was in Dealz and all the crafts & mini eggs you could buy for DIY Easter Egg hunts were in full supply.

A fine sunny day here in Sligo and the new lambs are out in the field across the road - I'll get no work done looking out at them 🐑

I'm on my second antibiotic for a nasty chest infection. After missing 6 days if work I managed to get back on Monday only to be back in the doc yesterday. Hope it gets better over the weekend cos I'm getting tired of sofa rest.

Anyone hitting the big parade in Dublin city?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,657 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

I work in Dublin city. Wild horses could not drag me in there on a bank holiday!

Apparently the Clerys building is opening back up tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,135 ✭✭✭pigtail33

I lived in Smithfield and Drumcomdra for a few years in my youth and only ever went in to the parade in town once. I just didn't find it enjoyable. Too big, too busy and too messy.

Heard about Clerys reopening. I think it's H&M moving in? I doubt it'll look anything like the old Clerys but still nice to see some life in the old building.

I don’t work in the city centre but no one could pay me enough money to go into the city centre for the parade.

Congratulations, fair play to you. You really are one of the cornerstones of the Christmas thread so here's to 10,000 more 🥂

I'm a Christmas baby, so my parents conceived me round about this time of year?

Thanks a lot Calla, you've ruined Paddy's Day for me forever ha ha ha 😄

St Patrick's Day used to be a dry day, so people had to make their own entertainment. 😄

I have great memories of the parade as a kid, haven't been in in years. Wondering if I should feel guilty that my kids have never been to the city one. We always go to the local one that we can easily walk to. City is too busy , too many people- nightmare to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,433 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

It's a bank holiday weekend! I've absolutely no plans because I'm away next weekend but I'll be glad to not get up at 6 on Monday.

I don't think there's been an entirely dry day this month so I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that today won't have any precipitation. It feels like even when its majority dry the second I walk outside with the dogs it starts again.

I'm heading to Dublin to see two of my nephews in their local parade, the older one was in it last year with his dad (with their GAA club), this year they are both in it so Mam and Dad will be walking with them 😊☘️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,477 ✭✭✭CheerLouth

We will go into the local parade here & hopefully not get washed out of it. We were drowned last year, but the kids love the parade & it has actually gotten much better than when we were kids. Gotta get the traditional green 99 after it too! I think there is a fun fair in town too so might pop down there for a spin on the Ferris wheel...says your one with the morbid fear of heights!

No rain so far today and sun's out, also just watch Now 70s on the TV playing Slade Merry Christmas everybody 😁

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,055 ✭✭✭BK5

Hope everyone has a brilliant long weekend, it's my first long weekend off in ages so I need the break.

Thought of this last night, this day 6 months is when we hit 100 days to go in the countdown, won't be long coming around!

Can't help feeling that French penalty was karma for last week's drop goal 😂

Got approved for a mortgage last Monday. Currently in a nit of a bidding war for a perfect house for us. Don't worry not going anywhere near the most we can spend (don't want to) but it is quite nerve wracking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,011 ✭✭✭Princess Calla

    Oh congratulations.

It is so stressful though. Just be prepared, even the cleanest of sales take months.

When I bought mine , I had all the necessary approval etc they had already moved out so house was empty and it still took 3-4 months from sale agreed.

I've just applied for a mortgage and I can just tell the bidding part will be a painful process.

Congrats and good luck with in your bidding war🤞

Best wishes with the mortgage and bidding war. Fingers crossed for you and anyone in the same situation. In the throes of sorting out a house myself at the moment. Nothing easy about housing in Ireland now but so looking forward to having my own house to decorate this Christmas! You'll see my house from space. I bought my Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry the other day for my mince pies and trifle this year.

Had a great day in Tramore on Friday. It was a beautiful day weather wise too. I'll be back again soon!

Happy St Patrick's Day to all. I'm going to go to the Dublin parade some year. I've no memory of ever being at a parade but I'm told I was at one when I was 3 or 4. Watched a bit of it on the telly. If I was living abroad I'm sure I'd be in the actual parade ;-) I can't go anywhere else for a few days and I'm pining for greenery, good chocolate, proper tea, potatoes. I'm a lost cause.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,819 ✭✭✭Smell the glove

    Thanks everyone, still on going.

Is it weird that when I was viewing the house I was thinking about where to put the Christmas tree and the first thing my wife talked about it was Christmas decorations storage ha.

What a beautiful morning. Was listening to the birds outside with such a 'spring is in the air' feeling.

It’s lovely alright. Just enjoying a cup of coffee before I head away for my swim, early morning swims are lovely ☺️.

A day of not leaving the house planned. Going to relax watch some TV and maybe make some soup. Love days like these.

We've a match at 3pm today and actually looking forward to it not being grey and miserable as it has been for all our matches so far.

Was just thinking how quiet it was on here over the long weekend. Guess we are in to the quiet quarter of the year. March, April and May we are enjoying longer evenings and better weather. By June and certainly by July we will looking forward to the season and the countdown numbers going down.
