Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It’s snowing here too. While also being Sunny.

And only yesterday I was sitting out the back in the sun drinking cider. Ireland is mad y’all.

We got a hail shower this morning. Had to run and bring the clothes in and was finished before I got back inside!

Blazing sun now and warm out of the wind.

Sunny here most of the day, although pretty cold.
Think there were about 4 snowflakes earlier this afternoon, but that's the extent of any blizzard around these parts!

Just looked it up there, "Recipe for a Perfect Christmas" sounds very hallmark, was it any good?

As formulaic and lame as you would expect, but Christine Baranski as fab in it and made it really watchable.

No snow here only sun but a nasty cool breeze :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,865 ✭✭✭TRS30

Bright and cold out there this morning, more wintery then spring!

Hope everyone had a nice Easter. Back at it today however felt like a proper time off so don't mind too much. Also only working 3 days this week as off Friday for youngest birthday.

Postman just arrived and it was snowing, poor guy. He's the nice one but only covers leave and illness in this area. He always seems to get the really crappy weather.

We had some snow this morning. It came out of nowhere, no warning at all. Usually there's an eerie silence and stillness before it arrives. Great to see it. :D

I've had Christmas songs going round in my head all day today! Must be something in the air.

Just yesterday I had to use a van in work that's there for the maintenance dept, it doesn't be used a huge amount so got in, started it up, let it run to warm up for a minute or so and started fiddling with the radio and what so be on preset number 4 but Christmas FM.
It was a bit sad that nothing came on but I had a little smile to myself thinking, I probably put that on the last time I drove this thing :)

I regularly dip into the ChristmasFM app, to avoid Covid talk or other stuff

Tunes unuasally come on when I am running as I just shuffle the songs, I always skip them but end up later in the day humming them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,865 ✭✭✭TRS30

Otnomart's cartoon yesterday had me humming 'White Christmas' for most of yesterday :)

I bought a couple of Christmas presents from Amazon yesterday - my OH is still laughing at me :)

I downloaded a few of the more recent Christmas albums recently, Gwen Stefani's, The goo goo dolls & Megan Trainors, finaly got around to updating them into my iTunes library the other day and updated my christmas playlist also to include the ones I'd heard on Christmas FM last year... I must admit I was tempted to have a listen, but ultimately resisted. It did give me a craving for the build up to come though I must admit. I think I'll be craving it even more this year than last if my current mood is anything to go by.

Very quiet in here today. Actually quiet on a couple of the other forums I read as well.

Maybe the lifting of the 5km mean people are out and about more!

I was just up to my eyes with work, very little time for anything else today, popped in a couple of times but it seemed quiet so didn't hang around.

Remembered that there's a few of you in here that use Alexa, thinking of getting one for the house (kids & herself have mentioned it a good few times now as the neighbours have them) and was wondering what peoples recommendations are? I see there's a few ones (4th Gen Echo Dot ball, 3rd Gen Echo Dot etc) and was wondering whats the best one? Also if looking to stream music whats the best app to sign up to?

I have some 3rd generation dots, a show and a 4th generation dot with a clock.

I detest the new ball shape, thought it might look better in real life but it doesn't. It was a replacement for a faulty 3rd generation with clock so not much choice.

I find the 3rd generation more responsive than the 4th.

The Show is often on offer for around £35 and is great value at that price. The screen is extra handy for seeing timers, watching videos and reading recipes. I've mine connected to my ring doorbell so I can see who's at the door on it too.

I already had Spotify premium so just connected it to that.

We have the 4th Gen Echo Dot since Christmas. It is perfect for what we use it for, mainly playing music, ask questions (whats the weather, random questions the kids come up with) and setting reminders.

We use Apple music mainly because we dont have spotify or any other music streaming service. Can't fault it so far.

I wouldn't go as far as to say we couldn't live without it however it is nice to have and I do enjoying playing random songs when they pop into my head if I'm in the kitchen. Was also great for playing Christmas FM for the couple of days it was still live post Christmas Day.

I went down the Google Home route, rather than Alexa. I already have Android TV/phone/tablet etc, so for me it made sense. They become quite addictive though! I now have two minis, one Google Home, a Lenovo Smart Alarm clock in the bedroom, a Nest door bell, a Chromecast and a few smart plugs. They all interact pretty seamlessly. I have them synced up to my Spotify Account too. Great to be able to ask it to play a song that randomly comes into your head.

I have, the Echo, The Show and the dot 3rd Gen.

The Echo and Show came when my heating/electricity provider when we signed with them, I'm not rich haha.

The Echo is the most powerful, the Dot is the most compact and neat looking. We use Apple music to stream, but we used to use Spotify so it's whatever one you prefer really, I use TuneIn alot for radion stations especially in the kitchen.
