No attacking threat from our fullbacks is making us look average

Expect more from Jones as an attack minded player, he should be demanding the ball

Rhys Williams has been very solid, he's come in leaps and bounds from his league cup debut

Origi needs to go based on this, offered SFA

Tsimikas one of better performers in that half. Getting blocks in, gets forward and can cross the ball.

A pretty poor half of football. Atalanta surprisingly good defensively.

TBH though, a draw and no injuries would be a perfectly acceptable result.

Clive Allen and Martin Tyler are some pair of fools, wondering why this performance isn't like other Liverpool performances. Hmm I wonder why, players likely position in the squad if everyone is fit

    Alisson - best GK
    Williams - 2nd or 3rd best RB
    Matip - 2nd best CB
    Williams - 5th best CB
    Tsimikas - 2nd best LB

Jones - maybe the 7th/8th best CM
Milner - maybe the 6th/7th best CM
    Gini - 4th best CM

    Salah/Mane - best attackers
    Origi - 5th best attacker

Overall a fine 1st half given the team out there.

Underwhelming 45 minutes but it's about what I expected given the circumstances so can't say I'm too disappointed. Hopefully we grind out a win.

    I like Tsimikas.

Ye he's had a solid game. Midfield isn't creating much and what they are Origi is wasting... Expect us to up the tempo second half otherwise changes be imminent

Not great but 3 games in 6 days this week so hard to be at it all the time. Probably see a good few changes yet.

I'd get Fabinho on for Curtis Jones here at half time. We need to get a better hold of the midfield

From 45 - 55/60 mins is usually our best spell so having Gini and Fab in the middle will allow Milner more freedom.

At 60mins rest Matip and drop Fab back and get Jota on.

    Hope Klopp is reading this

Can't all be class performances. I'm ok with it.

It amazes me how there is still so many one-footed young players these days. The 2 fullbacks look like they can barely stand on their weak foot.

Tsimiskis looks a bit raw but has potential. I’m still thinking Neco is so far out of his depth. Rhys looks like he may turn out to be a very tidy CB, quietly going about his business.

He really has just cruised around his three CL games. Not sure if it's down to the opposition not really testing him or he's just been very good and is doing his thing without any fuss.

But he looks a very good prospect from what we've seen.

Looks like Robbo is coming on which is a bit weird. This was the game to rest him in and Tsmikias is looking ok to me. This is stupid IMO. Too risky.

So if both games stay as draws we qualify right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,531 ✭✭✭✭noodler

This is exactly how you'd want this game to go.

    Without any drama.

Hope Klopp isn’t reading this or he’ll think you’re calling him stupid

    Yes

But Ajax are 2-0 up now.

Bobby, Jota and Fab coming on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,424 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Even when Robbo is rested he still ends up playing.

Looks like Klopp wants to get the job done in the next 30 minutes.

Was a great ball in fairness.

Thought there was a free for Liverpool at the beginning of that but the ref has been ignoring those all night for both sides.

Where a team of reserves can put us through. Klopp should have binned this game or gone as strong as possible but went in the middle.

If we can’t beat Midtjylland away we’ve no business being in the knockout rounds.

    Sloppy from us all evening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,824 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Simply put, that was a very tired performance from us.

Its not beating them im worried about its the fact we cant afford to rest anyonw nlw next midweek and if we dont win that, Then we cant rest anyone the following midweek

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,424 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Not even getting a point would be very annoying. Have to play a strong team against Ajax now next week.

Atalanta played really well from the get go, went right after us knowing we were there for the taking and it worked. Can't take it away from them.

    Disappointing reaction to the goals.

    Not ideal at all.
