Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

An Atalanta player that played on Wednesday tested positive for Covid the rest of the team are now being retested.

Klopp has always amazed me with tactics. So often he doesn't do what most football fans and coaches would do. I think a lot of normal coaches would have considered a 442 on Wednesday just to combat the number 10 threat and to help out the likes of neco.

Not many full backs wood have to start their career playing in such an exposed position and only have Mo Salah for support.

Suppose that's why klopp is the best in the world and I'm putting my thoughts on the internet.

We literally didn't have 4 viable midfielders.

I'd also argue a 4-3-3 is better than a 4-4-2 if you're worried about a No.10. 4-3-3 gives you more control of centre midfield, and the spaces between the defensive line and midfield line where a 10 operates, as one of your 3 midfielders is dropping back in there.

Also, our 4-3-3 gives just as much (if not more) support to the fullback, just in a different way than a 4-4-2 does. The latter requires your winger running up and down the line. The former allows one of the closer of the 3 midfielders to come over and help double up. It's the difference between a long vertical move versus a short lateral move to provide support - essentially working smart instead of working hard. We see Hendo forever doing that for the right back, and Gini doing it for the left back.

    Curtis Jones, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Milner

Id worry with that team, but if you change Hendo for Neco and but Milmer right back id be quite happy

Is Tossard injured injured for them
Tossard back and him and malarkey were mom against us the last ti!e we played them infighting end of last season

To be fair, it's hard to call Fabinho a dedicated CM now when he is being utilised at CB so much.

There are some rumours of a mad team today - Neco, Philips, Fabinho & Robbo at the back & no Mane.

Mad team confirmed but not much more else he can pick

Matip is hardly injured again already is he? Not even on the bench?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,564 ✭✭✭RugbyLover123

Looks like there’s a definite leak in the team then.

Worried about that right side of defensive but would expect the front 4 to out score Brighton.

Big day for Mini, starting in a strong attacking line up.

Neco Williams to prove a lot of people wrong today.

Amazed that he gets more criticism than the likes of Tsimikas or Minamino who haven't impressed when getting gametime despite being much more experienced.

I think the next 3 games are perfect for him.

That's a team picked by NPHET, and with the number of injuries, you can't be taking risks

He's a Welsh Enrique and Moreno combined
    That pirouette.....

How much longer will Thiago be out for?

Tsimikas has played about a game and a half! Maybe not even that much.

I'd say he's been managed, can't do 3 games a week at the best of times, and a busy busy month ahead.

10 games in the next 35 days I can see a lot of rotation and use of the squad players to help try and prevent injuries and deal with the one already there over the next month.

Brighton starting 3 attackers. But it's kind of hard to make out what way they will line up. Especially in defence. They have named 4 CBs and 1 LWB in their 11. Ben White has also played in midfield in some games too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,976 ✭✭✭doc_17

Brighton might be hoping to take advantage of VVD’s absence, maybe that’s why big Nat is starting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,821 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

They will no doubt play one to the left of our CBS and another right in the channel where Neco is,

    I wonder will we go 4 4 2

Matip isn't injured he is being managed according to Pearce.

Mini needs to step up here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,079 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Minamino's energy could be very useful in this game. Maybe he'll play as a hybrid 8/10. Let him to the running and pressing instead of Milner & Gini and let those 2 just stay sitting in central midfield.

So neither team are bothering with midfield then? I guess it's a good old fashioned end to end shoot out so.

Will the game be on any radio stations today?

And he also wasn’t deemed fit/safeto start that game, so it’s moot anyway. Fab doesn’t get dropped, especially now. He gets rested when absolutely required, like when coming back from injury, which he’s currently doing.

We had 3 midfielders available to start that game against Atalanta.

For today, bit worried... lots of attackers, but look quite exposed everywhere else.

Personally I don't like 4231 but hopefully mó up front can offer some threat, mane does need a rest tbf

I didn’t mind the pass as Salah’s run was great, but the pass needed to be better.

Great take from Salah there, just couldn’t control the finish. Looks up for it today though.

Jesus, huge hole in the centre of defence. Connolly dinks it past the post.

Alisson strengthening his claims for a start at centre back.

No yellow for that foul on Jota is ridiculous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,384 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

    Jesus, Williams.

Good first 5 minutes but we've been poor since.

    Major let off.

Can't see us keeping a clean sheet on this evidence. We'll need a couple goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,678 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

    What was Williams thinking though?
    He hasn't been great thusfar
