Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Good save from Adrian

Great save by The Amazing Adrian.

There is no structure to this game any more it's just we attack, you attack.

Origi has literally not done a single thing of any effect tonight.

Does Adrian not like to catch the ball?

He does a lot of hitting it out but lands in the box which can be dangerous.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

The Williams' combined don't exactly inspire you defensively. Fair to say next week will be another high scoring affair against Arsenal in the cup anyway.

He assisted a Jones goal with a knockdown

    Good save from Adrian

He’s made two or three saves when they should’ve scored, barely attempted to save one goal, and disappeared out of the goal for the other.

Liking what I am seeing with Tsimikas I have to say, lovely crosses pinged precisely into the box...

The good saves go to his head and that's when the mistakes happen.

In my defence m' lord the stream was constantly buffering.

The depth we have is ridiculous. With the exceptions of Williams x2, Adrian and Elliot, all these guys involved tonight would be regulars for a majority of Premiership teams imo.

Who started the second half as captain

To give him credit he hasn’t thrown the ball into our goal tonight....yet.

When you see Miinamino in profile,, he looks about 7.

Reninds me of Benayoun in some ways.

    It's not just the hair..

Can you really judge players at this early stage of their career?

    Both are 19.

I don't get how people expect perfection from defenders in every game nowadays and ignore that they may be still learning their craft.

People were also saying the same about Trent when he broke through and look how he turned out.

    Is there no captain

    It's Origi

Mc Grandles must be the oldest looking 25 year old since Diego Costa Arjen Robben.

TAA struck lucky, Clyne's injury meant Trent suddenly had loads of game time (albeit rotated with Gomez initially). Williams is simply not going to have that sort of luck in all likelihood. And I suspect he simply isn't as good in any event, lacks TAA's eye.

Did Yossi smell? That means nothing to me.

Were most of them not to keepers left? Div's and Grujic were to his right, and he wasn't there for Minamino's second.

Double header with Arsenal next week so.

TAA is the best full back in the world and he's only 21. Bit unfair to dismiss a kid for not being TAA. I'll need to see more to make have an opinion one way or the other.

A decade ago on here when Yossi was having a poor game, he'd get a bit of abuse, and then score out of nowhere. So people started saying "Yossi Smells" to inspire him to score.

I didn't dismiss him, I stated the obvious.

Does any FTA channel have League Cup highlights?

    Good game, great result.
My only comments are that away strip should be doused in petrol and destroyed by fire. I still can't bring myself to like it. Blue has no place on a Liverpool kit. That and Minamino needs to play in Bobby's slot until Bobby shakes off his funk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,629 ✭✭✭magma69

Jones, Minamino and Grujic were exceptional tonight.

Currently looking like a sharper version of Bobby, Beautiful first finish tonight

"Yossi Smells" would now be classed as a hate crime.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,564 ✭✭✭RugbyLover123

    Some positives from that:

Looks like we’ve got a decent LB on our hands for 12m. Very tidy performance.

Jones is looking like he’s going to be a quality player - as someone mentioned in here I would not be surprised if he over takes Naby if he doesn’t have a big season.

Shaq still has plenty to offer as I always thought. Hope he doesn’t get sold and competes with Jota and Mini.

Only negative I’m taking is that Neco Williams probably isn’t going to be a world beater. Harsh and he’s still young and hope he proves me wrong but he’s not looked great since his first two cameos last year.

The point is TAA is one of the world's top players now and he was being criticised for his defending when he got in the team.

I don't think he got lucky, he's an exception talent.

It's unlikely that either Williams will be that good but to write either of them off at this stage and one game together is just premature

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

FFS I'm not writing anyone off.

Williams clearly is in the mould of TAA but is clearly not developing as the same rate to the same level, because TAA is exceptional at what he does. If Williams becomes as good as Clyne he'll be doing well enough. The problem as I see it is that Neco so badly want to be just like Trent he is overlooking the more prosaic aspects of being a ball carrying full back. As such he needs to be coached to do the basics better, then we'll see how much flair he can add on top.
