    Hi,

I have had a 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 250 since 2014 and I only really use it for a very short commute (shorter since March !) but have identified 4 in my price range.

Has anyone any knowledge of them, and is there any merit in shopping around. Also, as it's my first trade in can anyone give me even a rough idea of a trade in value, it has 18,000 miles but would need a good service.

The 4 I've seen so far are

    Honda CBR - 7,800
    Ninja 400 - 7,250
    Yamaha R3 - 7,099
    Kawasaki Z400 - 6,850

Any information is very much appreciated, I've asked a few people in the shops but they generally waffle and tell you the most expensive one.!

Thanks in advance, appreciate any advice at all.

    Paul

Mad money to throw at a bike that's barely an upgrade from your current one. Get your 250 serviced with the money you have and wait until prices drop but personally I wouldn't spend 7k on what's basically a beginner bike and not dissimilar to your current one. 7k wouldn't be far of dream bike territory for some people.

Cheers pal, it's on credit so it seemed cheap enough when they put it on the never never!

I'll definitely think about it now you've put it that way :)

    I dunno about that now.

I'm sure the same could be said when he got the 250, and if the never-never worked then, why would it not work now ? It's not the price, it's the value you need to look at.

And value includes : repayments, it's got a warranty, it's a step up/more modern than the 250 (which he seems to have had a good experience with).

And I think the current crop of 400s/500s (including A2) actually function well for many people - if OP's use is as short/limiting as it seems, then that bracket of bike is actually a good choice.

    Imho, naturally.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
