Cork is fine at the moment. Long way from level 3.

Potentially alright. Wouldn't be overly shocked if they did.

Cork was 18th on the "cases per 100k" list, seems way off from further restrictions at the moment.

Cases definitely going up in Cork but it's not even in the top 10 per 100,000 population at the moment

I will redo the table tomorrow

According to who exactly ? It’s ****e that Donegal is now at level 3 but Cork is behind Donegal Louth, Wicklow and Waterford(even though Waterford is low) from the list on virgin media news. How is it on level 3 next week ?

I stand corrected. Was speculation in media but until anything official it's just speculation

Cork is still miles down the list per head of population. 34 per day in Cork wouldn’t see any extra restrictions imposed. The problem is it’s been at that level for about a week now. If it goes up for a sustained period it’s a problem. But other places are in a much worse place for now.

Should be higher than level 3 for Donegal

I wonder are they not adding in positive cases that have very little virus/dead virus As per all the chatter earlier in the week? This would help keep numbers lower but essentially weeds out the infectious people.

Why ? I was listening to virgin media news and they were taking about Derry being very high and that because of the closeness of Derry and Donegal it may be a case of one fuelling the other.

Seems like the easiest way to derail these threads is mentioning locking down Cork.

Place goes mental for a few minutes after

    Exactly

I will redo the table tomorrow and Cork will jump some places but I still wouldn't expect it to break the top 10

Cases in Cork don't seem to be going beyond the mid thirties

Hopefully they stabilise there and then begin to fall

In the centre of Donegal Town there is a reasonably large pedestrian area called The Diamond. I heard that local cafes/restaurants asked to use the area for their businesses but the council turned them down.

If the government want to impose outdoor only eating and drinking, they’re gonna have to start supporting ideas that make sense.
