I can understand how he pays no tax on income earned by various companies on account of historical losses being carried forward. Our banks are doing the same.

The trouble is if he's losing more than he's earning someone ultimately has to fund it.

He has previous form for getting debt written down/off - are his bankers and creditors effectively funding everything?

Exactly - It's the ongoing and systemic nature of it.

The only thing that he appears to actually make a profit on is his "Brand" and the money from The Apprentice and related stuff.

His actual "business deals" are all losing money hand over fist, year in year out.

I quoted the comment from the media over the week-end in another thread.

"Mr Trump is more successful playing a Business Mogul than is is being a Business Mogul".

On some levels it's an amazing job that he has done , spinning the story that he's actually a capable businessman and monetising that story.

This is why he has fought so hard to hide his tax returns. - The only thing he makes money off is effectively the merchandising off the brand "Donald Trump , Billionaire Business mogul" , now that his tax returns show that his is absolutely nothing of the sort , his sole income stream is going to dry up rapidly and all that debt that is about to come due is going to sink him for good.

Its not tax evasion. Thats illegal. Its tax avoidance. Which is legal.

This is a stupid non story distraction IMO. So Trump paid as little tax as possible unlike the rest of us who pay...... Oh yeah as little tax as possible but actually either make more than Trump or have less clever advisors.

Trump is a glad handling spoofer and liar but he is not the problem. There is a lack of integrity at the heart of politics which means his own party will not dump him unless he looks like losing. Because winning is the only thing that mattets and Trump understands this more than anyone.

    Please explain a little more.

the global financial system is currently experiencing a similar set of issues experienced pre 07/08, watch this space!

I'm disgusted whilst being reminded of the red carpet treatment this odious scum€@g got on his arrival to Ireland after buying, and at a substantial discount, the hotel in clare, which incidentally has not once made a profit since his involvement (and you can be sure he's milked anything going during the pandemic crisis and before)

Putting the unsurprising news of his taxes, he actually paid more to a porn star in settlements than he has paid taxes for nearly 15 years. Just mind boggling. Will this latest revelation change his obsessed fans minds? I doubt it, they are just dim wits itching for a fight and I fear its going to get very violent in November.
Looks like he got a better f*cking from the porn star than from Revenue to be fair

    I agree.

The real standout is how much of a useless charlatan he is in the world of business and how he has gotten away with it for so long.

Dude should be broke and living rough under a bridge somewhere.

Ireland is only a tax haven for some very large companies, the actual Irish residents get shafted in every direction. We are not a low tax country.

Fair play to Donny, if its all legal then well done on creative accounting.

I can't see any similarity, nor any relevance to Trump paying no income tax.

Its actually evidence of how inept the entire banking system is. They will hound some shopkeeper strggling with a mortgage but horse out money to the Trumps , Seanie Fitzes and Sean Dunnes. The truth is a global financial crash makes no difference to the people running the banks because they have thier money made and out before the crash they cause happens

Irish company makes a million quid, suddenly has to pay licensing royalties for the name to a company based in a country where licesnsing royalties aren't taxes, writes a cheque for 999,000 euro to said company , no tax liability here, no tax liability for the other company , win-win for the owner.

    its really basic business....
almost any chain fast food restaurant with corporate stores, clothing brands etc.. are all doing the exact same thing.

Do you honestly think that there is ANYTHING that could come out about Trump that would make the Senate Republicans find him guilty?

Yeah, there totally could have been if the democrats had any bit of credibility and if they hadn't been so partisan.. the republicans don't like him either..

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,559 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

I can't see any similarity, nor any relevance to Trump paying no income tax.

theres currently a significant fall in the demand for new credit, and an increasing likelihood of defaults and non performing loans, this occurred pre and during the last crash, tax avoidance of plutocratic elements in society are also playing a significant part in current global outcomes

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,105 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

    Ah come on.

There is only so many times you can blame the democrats for the really disasterous failings of the Republican party.
The fact so few of the Republican party have come out against him is on them.
If Trump does lose, what direction does that party go in now?
A lot of people are tainted by the fact they did nothing or actively backed trump and excused away his nonsense.

Exactly, hate the game not the player.

Unfortunately for Trump he decided to make himself the face of the Economic recovery,. Trump put the success of the economy down to himself and his abilities and was happy to take credit for it while it was going well even if it wasn’t the case.

Now he is in the position where he has become the Face of the financial, health, crime and economic systems in America and they are having massive problems.

He chooses to have Fauci on then back burner, he chooses to send in military to civil unrest, he chooses to be the face of the system And make a lot of noise about it instead of not.

So he is trying to avoid the blame from whence he used to take credit and it’s not washing.

Shock horror. The New York Slimes have a anonymous sources hit piece on Trump mere weeks from the Presidential election again.

Who would have thunk it. Trump lawyer:

The liberal media are at the usual "Bombshell!!" / "Explosive"nonsense again today but I'm pretty sure we've heard all that somewhere before.

Trump's lawyer voiced exactly what's wrong with Trump and his supporters with this quote:

"Most of the facts are inaccurate".

If they're inaccurate then they wouldn't be facts. The Trump movement is of a unique mindset where facts, truths and evidence aren't facts, truth or evidence if they disagree with their feelings.

But what about whataboutery. Exaggerate much?

What multiple countries did he invade?
    Bet he won’t answer.

Also, why is Obama being brought up in a thread about trumps taxes?

Hence they came up with the term "alternative facts"

We knew he was bankrupt multiple times, we knew he was a failure in business from inheritance to bankruptcy, this is hardly news. His base isn't going to care of he eats a newborn on live tv.

Yeah. They only care about children before they're born.

Although I reckon he could cut open a pregnant woman and eat a foetus live on television and they still would vote for him because he's not a Dem.

Gotta admire their sense of totally subservient loyalty to the man all the same.

And a lot of the People who hate Trump the most are very good at ignoring the obvious And numerous flaws in his opponent.

It has all turned into Glasgow. Your either Green or Blue and when you choose your side it means you must detest everything about the other.
