Yeah let them at it stop living in fear of the virus because it isn't going away anytime soon.

People that are still afraid of it can stay in their own self imposed Lockdown and let the rest of us enjoy our lives again and not be afraid to socialise with friends.

We need to learn to live with it and the sooner that we do that the better.

Do you have any idea how this spreads ? You get it and pass it on to a friend who passes it on to his friend who has cancer . Or its passed on to someone who has a sibling with special needs or a parent who has heart problem . Or its passed on to a mate whos dad is on dialysis .
Did you not understand the way a virus spreads and kills ?

At least you're honest about it anyway, that's something I guess.

I'm not saying everyone should do it everyone has their own set of circumstances that they are living in or that they are aware of but the vast majority should be able to enjoy their lives and not live in fear of a virus that isn't going to cause any major problems for them.

Like I've said before if those people are afraid of getting the virus then they should stay in a self imposed lockdown and let the rest of us that want to, get on with our lives and not live in fear of a virus that has a 0.06% chance of killing us.

I'm talking about the people someone might give it to if they're asymptomatic, maybe having caught it at a pub/restaruant/gathering etc. - they had their fun and tough sh1t on anyone they infect.

The whole world got it wrong eh ?

Kinda missing the point. People are doing to it to protect others more vunerable than themselves.

So those people should continue to live in fear of the virus because there's more vulnerable people that can get it?

They should continue to put their lives on hold for how long?

What are the consequences for non compliance with the guidance? That's right. Fcuk all.

I'm sick of the government and their guidelines, guidance...

    guidelines = advice

You are free to accept or ignore advice it has zero weight. If they want to get thought the make laws and then the Guards can do something.

I'm an idiot for not living in fear of a virus that has a 0.06% chance of killing me.
They must have changed the definition of an idiot in the dictionary so?
I did a check on your numbers.
    World population 7,815,142,500
    Deaths from Covid 1,007,716
Percentage deaths 0.01289% or a 1 in 7,755 chance of death.

    Number of Covid cases 33,620,812
Percentage deaths 2.997% or a 1 in 33.6 chance of death if you get the virus.

If you want to gamble on surviving a 33/1 chance that is your choice.
And Covid 33/1 shots, unfortunately, die every day.

I'm talking about younger people under the age of 24. Look up the HSE stats 1 person has died from covid under the age of 24.

1/1802 = 0.000554938957% chance of dying from it in Ireland if you're under 24.

I've no grandparents to pass it on to so that's not a concern for me.

Let's just get on with our lives and stop living in fear.

I'm only picking this as a good example and can understand the frustrations of younger people.

However it is statements like these that shows how difficult it will be to slow transmission of Covid-19.

This pandemic is a team effort as chessy as that sounds.

Nonsense, any parent happy to see their kids mingling is also a selfish idiot themselves with no respect at all for the seriousness of the virus we are dealing with.

Well you are calling a large % of parents in ireland idiots then, myself included.
Have you kids ? i don't mean to be personal but unless you have i'm not sure your point is valid.

Yeah selfish for wanting to not live my life in fear of a virus that has a 0.00055% chance of killing me.

No, not live in fear, but maybe adjust their lives temporarily to protect the more vulnerable.
As for how long, as long as it takes.

So not have a social life for as long as it takes? and let's just ignore all the suicides that have occurred as a result of the restrictions imposed on everyone.

What are your chances of being in a car crash today? Do you wear a seatbelt?

Any info on how many people were infected by someone under 24 ?

Herd immunity is the only way to go you can't expect young people to stay locked up without a social life for this long once they realise that the virus has fvck all chance of effecting them in any serious way.

Does he avoid driving at all costs would be the correct question, if we were to find something similar to equate to.

Why? Have you stopped going out your front door for the last 6 months?

No, not have the same social life as before.
Wasn’t it stated somewhere else in this forum that there has been no increase in suicides this year ? Nearly sure I saw that somewhere.

You'd think the young were going to miss out when all that's happening is delayed gratification.

About 45% of people are elderly of have underlying conditions . Add in their close family , children , siblings and partners . You probably then have a figure of somewhere in the region of 60-70 % of the population .
So , you would like all those people to stay in lockdown just so you could go out and not take precautions and be careful etc ?

Yeah we've been on lockdown long enough so if they are still afraid of the virus then they should continue to live in a self imposed lockdown and let the rest us get on with our lives and not continue to live in fear of the virus.
