Laminate flooring downstairs

I am thinking of running laminate flooring throughout my downstairs ( standard 4 bed semi)....square metres of approx 60 square metres.

Did anyone do this and regret or have any lessons learned? Currently have tiles in kitchen...would they have to be lifted or can boards go over them?
Approx costs to expect from anyone who has done this recently would be appreciated too!

    Thanks
    Maura
