Hi, what are my options to upgrade this PC?
its my home computer but my son is getting older and wants more gaming performance.
I dont do online shopping so the likes of Max Burns would be my supplier, unless anyone on here has parts to sell that may suit.
    Thanks.(Budget maybe €500 approx).

I think you need a new machine. What games will you want to play.

You could add an old 1050Ti to get some games working. But it will still be low end machine.
Then SSD to make everything load faster.

Cant i fit a new Motherboard and processor? to help or is that way out of budget?

Already have 2 ssd drives in it.

What case and psu do have...?

    Is a Asus branded machine?

Do you have a link to the original machine.

Games That he would want to play are: Call of duty Warzone, Rocket League and Overwatch.

No link, its a home build years ago, picture of the case coming up.

A simple GPU upgrade would suffice for those titles at 1080p a GTX1660 or slightly better, and maybe add another 8GB of RAM which won't cost much off adverts. It's a short to mid term fix though, as it won't stretch much further than those titles.

That machine is basically 10 years old in computer years. It's fine for office tasks, but for gaming its a dinosaur.

A basic new gaming machine at the low end is about 600 to build. Usually around a Ryzen chip. Only problem is everyone wants them, covid etc. so supply makes getting even the budget end hardware difficult.

You need a decent PSU with 8pin power and you might even need two 8 pin for cards in the future.

The best cards that don't need power are the 1050ti (old) and the 1650. Hardly any point spending more on such an old system.

If you have a PSU that will power a better card then try avoid cards with 2-3gb of ram on the GPU. You want to avoid a game running out of memory on an old system.

Anyone got a suitable system for sale?

Looks like that PSU will handle a more powerful GPU.

Might need a biohazard team aswell...

You can reuse any drives (Windows 10 re-install highly recommended).
    Keep the fans.
Rest of it I wouldn't reuse.

Yeah you really want a new build at this point. The 2500K is grand still for most games, especially stuff like Overwatch or Rocket League.

But Warzone not so much, and some newer titles it struggles as well. It would run obviously, but there would be fair amount of hitching at times.

The 4870x2 is even more absurdly obsolete though and has been for years!

Best off at this point starting fresh and just carry over your SSD's. The build above is solid, could shell out a bit more if needed on a better CPU, though the 3100 is a massive improvement on an i5-2500K, it's similar to an i7-7700K.

I'm sorry but the lego bricks are a touch of genius.

I'm sure even with a good Gfx card it would run something like this...

    https://youtu.be/WX2e2t3A62U

I've two old PCs in the house running 1050ti

My next move will be to a Ryzen 3100 or 3300 based system. Something like was listed earlier.

Well that video proves a point - it'll run, obviously, but there are cases where the card is more than capable of solid 60fps with a modern processor, but it drops as low as 30fps due to the CPU bottleneck.

    So - just not ideal.
