Even as much as I dislike the man, don't read too much into being put on oxygen as being a big deal. Even for us normals, if you're ever put in an ambulance and compromised in any way they give you oxygen as default.

    I agree.

My dad is 82 and recently given a positive result on a Covid test - aside from a chesty cough he’s asymptomatic and is on O2.

They’ll post a picture of him exercising next.
    That’ll confirm it!

The photos were taken 10 minutes apart - the embedded data in the photos show this. They're supposed to show he's working hard but he just took a picture, moved to another room and took off his jacket and they took another picture. Fake news.

What's the US advice for over 70's and cocooning? He could be right...

But he's talking like theres no middle ground between locked up in my house and being at rallies and events with out masks and no social distancing with all my buddies. More disingenuous tripe from him.

He's looking very well - fighting battles on multiple fronts.

No bother to him, all in a day's work.

Its got a serious whiff of the Borris off it. Trump 20 years his senior but that might be balanced with the fact we're further down the line with treatments/knowledge.

Of course photos are staged, most of these type of shots are regardless of scenario. I reckon he'll pull through like Borris. I think most people would pull through if they were given round the clock no expense spared treatment.

Problem for the average person who contracts it and gets into difficulty is they won't get such treatment.

Especially if the hospital is full of similar type patients and even more so if you're in the good Ol US of A.

The hospital where Chris Christie Christie is staying has said that it has hired extra staff to help with the surge in demand. In the kitchen.

I'm not a supporter of Trump at all. But staged photos are used by leaders all the time. Going back to King George the 6th during WW2 (and I'm sure well before that)

Obama, George Bush, Clinton, Leo and John Bruton with the National Broadband plan in a classroom.

It's just part of politics. Doesn't really give much of an indication one way or another.

Genghis Khan started it all off with the staged photo ops. He was also the first man to get over 1m followers on instagram back in the day

Yeah but it really, really says a lot about a country that when their national leader is hospitalised he has to stage some photos to look like he's still fine. If Leo/Micheál were hospitalised with Covid and then released a bunch of pictures of them sitting at a desk in formal wear, they would be rightly slated for wasting hospital staff time. The same would have been true of Boris in the UK. The man was very sick and went to hospital because it was where he needed to be. That should be ok.

If Trump is genuinely well enough to be sitting up at a desk in formal wear, then he shouldn't be in hospital, especially considering that his home has a full medical centre in it. If Trump needs to be in hospital, that should be ok. He's a human being and like everyone else alive, he's susceptible to illness. If that's somehow not ok to your electorate it's a sign that something has gone so far wrong in your country that it's gone beyond farce.

Anyone can edit the EXIF data in a photo.

The problem can be if you want to claim/fake a different timestamp. Then if your camera puts it there automatically and you forget to edit it, you can be caught out.

But once you know to change it, it is easy to do so

To all those who said the Dems were correct in taking down their negative ads and taking the high road while the President was 'sick':

It’s a military hospital with a whole facility specifically dedicated to the President (not just Trump, any President) to both be treated in and work from. It’s not like here or the UK where he’d be taking up a bed in a standard hospital (even if it were a private one) someone else could use. The wanted to show him walking in (well, to the helicopter), and they’ll want to show him walking out. They couldn’t leave it to chance that he ended up being airlifted on a stretcher if thins got worse. Look at the attention this has got already - imagine what pictures of him being wheeled out of the Whitehouse on a gurney would do.

The US go all in for as anything to do with the President. Take a look at the massive security operations that happened here for Presidential visits - not just Trump but Obama and Bush too). Roads closed, snipers on roofs, entire sewage systems inspected. It might seem over the top when our leaders fly on commercial aircraft and do things like run and cycle in public, but it’s par for the course in the US for the President.

Don't see any issue with the staged photos to be honest.

Pretty standard stuff. Show the President at work, when would they not do it?

They could have done a better job though - the white paper and thick Sharpie-style pen is a bit amateur.

The 'what looks like the same blank piece of paper' reporting is laughable.

Which again goes to how messed up their perception of politics is. It's 2020, we should all be completely and totally aware of the fact that our national leaders are human beings, no more, no less. Sometimes they will get sick in office. If Trump needed to be taken to hospital in a stretcher it should mean nothing other than a normal level of concern.

British politics has regularly descended to farce in recent years but when the Prime Minister was hospitalised by ambulance and later known to be in the ICU, people were concerned of course, but life went on. There was faith in the system because absolutely nobody thought of Boris as anything other than a human being.

And yes, the fact that they are so close to an election changes the significance. But again, it shows up flaws in their system that it's not possible to postpone an election if the person running for office is potentially seriously ill.

    No, they wouldn't.

Trump is, you may not realize, the President of America, his job is bigger than himself, having a photo of him ok is about calming markets Monday morning, geo politics etc etc.

If there is a 1 in 10000 chance he might die then he needs to be in hospital and looked after by the best doctors in the world because of the seriousness of his dying for the wider world.
