Your link is from a cohort of economists who's vision is for a more integrated EU. So, they're hardly going to paint the EU effort in a bad light, are they? If anyone thinks that the EU acted in a timely and co-operative measure in the early stages of this pandemic they must suffer from some sort of amnesia.

WRT Barnier, why does it matter when he got it? The Chinese were very co-operative in sharing information to the WHO back in late-December and early-January that he should have been listening to their advice and you know - sing happy birthday twice while washing his hands, maintaining social distancing and wearing a mask.

Actually, scrap that wearing a mask part - I think that advice only came out in June some time after the glorious EU sat down with the virus and negotiated a €750bln stimulus plan.

Okay, so you're not gonna back up your claim and going to rant instead?

It does matter when he got it, it would have been early March so nowhere had entered any form of lockdown at that stage. Boris was actively walking wards and not distancing in any way when he got it. Bolsonaro was basically following no guidelines when he got it. Trump was priding himself on not wearing a mask on Tuesday and mocking his opponent for wearing one. The US basically never exited the first wave, even the likes of the UK exited wave one.

Being obsessed with image is a quality reserved entirely for the left.. when talking about Trump.

    You're funny, I like it!

Sounds like you might have it yourself? Particularly nasty if contracted with Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I guess all we can do is conjecture whether mask wearing or not is why Trump caught COVID, but it's not conjecture as to whether the scenes pictured here are a perfect breeding ground for this virus

Frightening alright. That first video clip is only 28 seconds long. It ends where Barr, after talking to Conway, reaches out to shake hands with somebody. If it were to show another 5 or 6 seconds you would see that straight after Barr shakes hands with whoever it was he shook hands with, he immediately puts his hand to his upper lip and wipes under his nose.

Isn’t it wonderful to see old Trump packing his bags and off to a hospital just in case, whilst also getting trial drugs to help him. Every effort to save him, not so much for poorer Americans with no Medicare, they can die. What a country, what a system.

Bizzarrely I've yet to see any Trump fans in this thread comment on any of this. The thread is about Trump contracting Covid 19 yet they're completely ignoring the events that lead to him and others actually catching the thing and how they could have prevented it by not being ignorant d!ckheads and following simple guidelines.

I guess they don't want to be seen to be criticising the chosen one.

Will there ever be a country or a system that does different, unlikely. Could one ever even be made, certainly not.

The US are one of the worst at handling the virus, this is a fact. They never exited the first wave, that's a massive failure. Even if Trump recovers, covid-19 will remain at the front of voter's minds.

Guessing the prepared speech will be poured over a good few times before he is allowed out.

Wonder will he be allowed to take questions?

Here's a longer version of that clip. Just realised he shook with his right hand but used his left hand to wipe his nose. About 38 seconds in. Still, I wonder if his left hand would be much less infected than his right? The guy he shook hands with was holding his mask in his hand.

True but at least ours told us to be careful. He has so many Americans convinced its nothing to worry about. He'll get their votes but you have to feel sorry for them and the position he has them in.

I wonder if Trump himself would even consider contracting Covid as an acceptable risk of his job. Going to guess not.

He basically said as much in that recent video.

I won't quote him verbatim, but something to the effect of not hiding away in the oval office keeping safe from the virus... the best leaders in history would not have done that.

So he's not naive. He knows his job puts him at a significant risk of getting this virus. But he obviously has accepted that reality.

The focus on masks is clearly just the usual tired old tactics of the left, in attempting to attack trump's character. Those tactics didn't work in the last election, but they don't really have any other cards to play. It's the usual desperation stuff... ;)

He sure has, but time will tell if his risk mitigating gold plated medical care will cure him of this virus. Let’s see......

If he knew he had it on Wednesday, he put the American public at risk. That's not leadership.... That seems like a pretty deserving attack on his character. You also don't seem, to be addressing criticisms. Hubris is why he got the coronavirus, nothing to do with courage.

    Drs out now

    Improving

    Frequent ups and downs

    2 drops in oxygen

    Dexamethasone used

    Thu Fri doing well

Late Fri high fever and given oxygen

Plan is to continue Remdesevir and Dexamethasone
    and to discharge tomorrow .

The Drs wouldn't fill you with confidence. They seem very deferential esp Dr Dooley and Conley. His Physician Conley is like McElhaney putting spin on everything

From the questions regarding his lungs- one would take a guess that there is still some infection on the lungs
