Reg on that Sierra comes up as an XR4i but it says Cosworth on the boot.

XR4i had the extra pillar in the side window too didn't it? The extra

pillar ruined the whole car in my opinion.

Not great pictures but one of my favourite cars, the Nissan GTR.

Then on the way home a Porsche Panamera

Only to find a Lamborghini Diablo (I think) in my local petrol station.

Good day and that is counting the RS5 I didn't get a picture off.

Selection of some of the Pope's former company cars. Went all bulletproof after the assassination attempt. The E23 and W108 are standard, all others heavily protected.

I know the bastard. I tried to assassinate him many times but he was always in a bullet proof vehicle. In the end I just gave up and found Jesus.

Ya that lambo is simon deanes. I don't think it's for sale though. Its from his personal collection :-) Might be wrong though.

The Diablo and McLaren are great spots. Yes I assume the Diablo must be the one Deane Motors have for sale. I only saw a Diablo in Ireland once before, Alan Dorgan motors had one for sale in 1998, price IR£145k, it was purple.

    Outside Deevys, Waterford.

Passed it going along the quay about 15mins after this photo was taken too. California plates and all.

Remember the Diablo for sale around1997 at alan Dorgans . Went there with my dad to see it as was teenager . Alan Dorgan wasn't verge friendly . You think he would understand someone wanting to get close to a lambo !

Thats not the point , he could have been pleasant . I would never buy a car off him after that , hes retired now but it said alot about him.

You are literally the first person to confirm it. All these years and I half thought I had hallucinated it. I never saw the car again, am curious as to what happened to it. I also found Alan Dorgan motors to be rather supercilious and unhelpful. I only saw the Diablo by chance because I went in looking for a MK1 Golf GTI, the guy told me "oh they are very hard to get hold of, we never have them" in spite of the fact that an acquaintance had bought one off them only a few months previously. I nodded at the Diablo and "do you reckon you'll sell it?", he replied "it sells itself, don't you think?".

Alan Dorgan went through a period of having random really high end cars amongst his stock around then. I remember he was in Leopardstown retail park around 1994 - very fancy showroom. I think he was involved in nightclubs also

I bought two cars from Alan Dorgan, still have one of them - he wasn't overly helpful even when you were handing him a wad of cash.

  • Registered Users Posts: 837 ✭✭✭mazdamiatamx5

Ah ok. I didn't realise they he ever had a showroom in Leopardstown, thought they were always based only in Monkstown. I guess he was doing what Beshoff do these days, focus on high end stuff for the top end of the market.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,494 ✭✭✭goochy

he wasnt there for very long , he only dealt in really high end stuff for a while. He dealt in fairly run of the mill premium brands cars after that and became a cabrio specialist

love the size of the parking spaces

Yeah that was my understanding. Btw, when I saw the Diablo at Alan Dorgan's back in 97/98 I remember mentioning it to a then work colleague from a wealthy background and who had grown up in Dalkey. He commented that he remembered two Shankhill brothers had both had Lambos in the 1970s. He wasn't a b.s. merchant so I filed it away in my memory. Low and behold footage from one of them turns up in the internet era, see this thread (possibly you've already seen it):

i remember when i lived in Clonsilla in the early 90s , there was a red Countach in a garage of a fairly average house . Owner swore it was real thing.

Didnt car guy Michael Madden in Kilkenny have a Countach and then a Diablo ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 837 ✭✭✭mazdamiatamx5

Don't know about Michael Madden. I only saw a Countach once outside of a car show in Ireland, but it was on NI plates.

Renault Alpine GTA on the Newhaven - Dieppe ferry yesterday. Saw it out of the corner of my eye going up the stairs. Hard to miss really. Still a stunning car IMHO.

This is rare. 1979 De Tomaso Deauville. Bulletproofed for one of the top people in the Italian judiciary.

270 bhp was a lot for the time, but it weighs 2340kg.

Great no. plate , its been said many a time the front lights/ grille are a problem - Beshoffs have a silver one in stock - colour really suit the car
