There was someone here or on one of the other threads asking the exact same thing a couple of days ago when a couple of seconds googling would have shown it as a non-story. It’s just mud slinging in hope. It’s pathetic really but it’s where this is now.

They started defending him when he was an unlikely hopeful for the GOP nomination pre-2016. Then he won but was unlikely to win the presidency until he did. They continued to defend him as it became clearer and clearer during his presidency how low, corrupt and devoid of intellect he is.

They've spent too long defending him to just stop. It's the sunken cost bias. If he can get away with spreading conspiracy theories, racism, calling Nazis "very fine people", mocking the disabled, conning people, screwing over contractors, advocating the injection of bleach to cure a respiratory virus and boasting about being able to recite five words in order then there's nothing he can do to lose their support.

It's resembling a cult more and more except with a really shoddy figurehead. Like one of Trump's "businesses".

Sure. It's weird though. The Conservative party here in the UK is able to evolve but the GOP seem to use all sorts of political and legal acrobatics to desperately cling on like some sort of political tumor rather than evolve.
