If anything, big reputations are harming a places chances. It is ready very interesting :)

Just goes to show what other amazing places around the island that we are missing out on. I've not heard about most of them before but am already planning trips to see some of them

    Walls of Derry.
"This is the only remaining completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest examples of walled cities in Europe."

The only remaining works for me.

    Derry walls.

Disappointed I missed some of the other votes. I think some iconic sites have gone out just because theyre so iconic

Ouch. Two living cultural landmarks, as opposed to tourist heritage spots.

I'll still go the GPO here though; love walking into the place. More Post Offices should be built like this! It'd be expensive, sure, but so much fun.

GPO for me, very iconic. Tonnes of lighthouses around the country.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Hook Lighthouse ; because lighthouses are cool and O'Connell Street is a cesspit

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,069 ✭✭✭Irish Aris

Ah, I missed all the action today, first day back at work.

I'll vote for GPO in this one, the six columns in the front of the building is something I'm very familiar with from Greek architecture.

GPO - if I were to go to Dublin I'd go and see it. If I got lost and ended up in Wexford , I'd might well pass on the lighthouse, though I'm sure it is lovely.

Gpo.. if it’s close I’ll edit in a reason , if I forget give me a half point for confidence

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,712 ✭✭✭Sawduck

GPO a historic building and a true Irish icon

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Has to be the GPO of those two. I don't think the building itself is that much different to a few others in Dublin but the history of it makes it a much stronger contender than the lighthouse.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,401 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

The GPO for historical reasons. Bullet holes are cool
