GPO for me, very iconic. Tonnes of lighthouses around the country.

Actually just Googled, seems that lighthouse is quite old, one of the oldest in the world. Maybe I jumped the gun, will stick with the gpo anyways

I thought you were from Donegal?
    Haha, no!!

Unfortunately, I'm a Dub - I wish I was from Donegal, or Sligo, or Mayo, or.... a large part of my heart belongs to the northwest.

I can't believe that the Hook lighthouse is going to be voted out by the feckin' GPO

I know it's historical, and all..... but the oldest working lighthouse in the world, lads! Being a lighthouse at all is reason enough, but the oldest in the world.....

    SMH :(

(In case it wasn't clear, the Hook Lighthouse gets my vote!)

Second oldest operational lighthouse in the world.
Have to vote for Hook lighthouse

Poster who said "voting for GPO tonnes of lighthouses around" i counter argue "voting for Hook lighthouse. Post Office in every second parish in Ireland"

I felt I should vote GPO for to its significance but Heidi's convinced me. Hook Lighthouse looks awesome and O'Connell St is a kip. I'll read about the GPO's history on the train to Wexford. Vote Hook Lighthouse

Lads, go into the GPO and use it rather than vote on it based on O'Connell Street (which isn't the nomination).

It'll improve your view of it.

Go into Hook lighthouse tour is amazing. The history, the personal stories, the lives they lead.

No, because you have to step foot on O'Connell Street to get to it, and a little bit of my soul dies every time I do.

For sure, but it's just a tour. You can go on tours anywhere.

Going into the GPO is to use it for its original purpose. To really be part an active part of Dublin city and its history and culture.

    (I like Hook Lighthouse btw)

Ah not just O'Connel street, Dublin in general is a kip....runs

GPO. Tis a fine lighthouse but no better than many others. The GPO has a unique place in our history

I think the GPO can win the "famous associated quotes" battle too :)
The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all the children of the nation equally, and oblivious of the differences carefully fostered by an alien Government, which have divided a minority from the majority in the past.

Nah, only culchies who don't know the city and only come up to see the GPO before eating Ham Sandwiches on the way to Croke Park think like that...

    Hook head lighthouse.
I think that there are a lot of European and world buildings that are similar to the look and feel of the gpo. Hundreds. There's even the custom House just up the road in the same city!
There are of course lots of lighthouses too, for sure.
But I think hook head is ever so slightly more individual.
    Tight one.

    Tight one.

    Not tight enough, I fear.

I think I'll have to throw a massive sulk when the result of this one comes in

    Did the Skellig appear yet?
    Won by a landslide

(I think, they're all starting to blur a bit at this stage, been a long day!)
