    Is it half an hour?
If so the timer ran out after Kol levelled it up, I think

'Scuse me, whatever else you can accuse me of, an early riser I am not! (Unless I'm being very well paid for it :D)

    That’s correct. It’s tiebreaker time

Fecks sake.... the one where I'd run out of steam and couldn't muster up a cogent argument for my choice :o

My vote is for the magic road on craggy island.

Quarterfinals spot at stake. Let’s see who’ll clinch it.

These are my two favourites left outside of Waterford. Le sigh.

Charles Fort for me. Been there loads of times and just love it.

    Personal experience referred to. 1-0

Going to have to go with Donegal.

    Grianan an Aileach.

    Kills me, though.

County affiliation mentioned but nothing about the structure. Half a point. 1 - 0.5
Charles Fort. Never been but it looks class.

    Half a point for this. 1.5 - 0.5

Charles Fort - had never heard of it before I visited Kinsale during the Summer and we strolled over to it. I was blown away by it, incredible structure and an incredible location!

    Easily worth a point. 2.5 - 0.5
    Grianan of Aileach.

It's more 'Irish'. Like something from Tír na nÓg.

    I’ll have that. Full point. 2.5 - 1.5

    Can’t believe Skelligs are gone

    No reason. No point. 2.5 - 1.5
Missed last two what a shock for the Skelligs
    Would have voted for it.

Fort Charles, unusual shape and wonderful setting

    Great description. 3.5 - 1.5

Charles Fort - I have a fascination for those post medieval forts and this is a stunning example

    Excellent reason. 4.5 - 1.5
I’m going with the fort. From the ground I’d say it’s a lot more interesting.

And I’m still peeved that Sliabh Liag didn’t get through as I can see the top of it from my parents house too.

    Worthy of half a point here. 5 - 1.5

As someone else said, more Irish. Built earlier therefore more impressive, also can be seen from further away & has great views from it.

    Brilliant answer. 5 - 2.5
    Grianan of Aileach

Fits in more with what I'd like to think Irishness is about...
Can't really be any more specific..

    I can accept this fully. 5 - 3.5
    Grianan of Aileach
Got to stick with my nomination. It's such a great place up there, like something from another era. Charles Fort looks great but more historical whereas the Grianan seems mythical

    Again, great reason. 5 - 4.5

    Grianan of Aileach

    The beauty is captivating

Worthy of a half point. All level. 5-5
Two of the best in the tournament here...

Charles Fort ; essentially a coin flip, could've gone either way on this one

    I’ll recognise the difficult choice for half a point. 5.5 - 5
    Charles Fort

Have to stick with the home county and vote Grainan, though not much in it.

Slieve league should be there really.

    County loyalty nets a half point. 5.5 - 5.5

    Damn it another draw!!!

Ok this might ruffle a few feathers but it’s for a mixture of reasons I’m selecting the winner. It’s been said it’s like Tír na nÓg and that’s it’s inherently more Irish and since it’s Irish landmarks we’re discussing it’s what it come down to for me. Being honest, it would be a coin flip for me too but that all being said...

Another tough one but gotta go for

Cloughoughter Castle - picturesque. I've seen the walls in Derry and they are cool, they just aren't a patch on the island castle though.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,245 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

This is a bit mundane for a last 16 tie, but yeah, that castle and the setting just edge it over the walls.

Has to be Cloughoughter Castle for this round

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,374 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

    The walls for me.

I've heard fantastic things about them, and I've never heard of the other place.

I feel like I'm running out of contenders I actually know at this stage :o

The Derry Walls ; the only intact city walls we have on the island, and they're just cool

    Cloughloughter Castle.

A tough one but just a bit more pleasing on the eye.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,007 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

    Very tough

    Going for the Derry Walls

That photo of the castle is amazing but there's more to the walls, they are awesome

Have to go Derry city walls here, I know the island well & the never thought anything much of the ruin on it. there are quite a few old ruins in different islands around the area.
I was always much more impressed by the cattle some farmers had on some islands.

    Derry Walls
The only completely walled city in Ireland? Super impressive, managed to stay intact throughout all the trouble.in northern Ireland? Brilliant

I go to Derry quite often and even though I drive through them and walk by parts of them, I’ve never really taken any notice of them.

    Castle for me.
