Cloughoughter Castle - so picturesque. A castle, on an island, in a lake surrounded by woodland - what's not to love?

Coumshingaun Lough for me, once again, absolutely breathtaking scenery on a clear day, a really nice hike and surrounded by multiple hills and peaks also.

Coumshingaun has such natural beauty it's gotta be my choice

    Ah this one's easy.

Coumshingaun is spectacular, and you don't come to Ireland for buildings. The outdoors is what we're best at.

The GPO has had a good run, although I don't see many judging Coumshingaun based on its crappy car park :)

    So Coumshingaun.

Coumshingaun, far more unique and a stronger kind of beauty.

Coumshingaun Lough natural beauty trumps history - sounds like something I might try and explain to my wife :o

Coumshingaun Lough ; you can't beat scenery like this, which ultimately has always been the most impressive thing about Ireland... tourists don't flock her to see buildings that you can find in the most major city, they come for the vastly impressive landscape

Coumshingaun Lough going with beauty over history in this

Coumshingaun Lough - can't look past the spectacular views and the lovely walk up to it.

    Coumshingaun Lough

Pictures are seldom as good as the real thing so this must be breathtaking. The find of the thread and somewhere i can't wait to go see

    I vote for the Lough.

I love my history but the GPO is so underwhelming when you actually walk down that street. The statue of Big Jim in the "what's all this s**t" pose says it all

Another +1 for Coumshingaun. I would go as far as to say it's the potential favourite to win the whole thing at this stage. It just looks stunning.

Just need to get there before Luke Skywalker ruins this one for everybody too

    Coumshingaun Lough is really beautiful.

But the GPO is without doubt one of the top 5 most well known landmarks in ireland.
Every tourist to Dublin that takes any kind of tour is shown the GPO and told about its significance.
Inside is fabulous, and still in everyday use as a post office. People meet outside the GPO, rallies start outside the GPO, charities collect and help people at the GPO.
I haven't actually been to it, yet, but they opened a museum/your type of place inside.

Given it's place not only in Irish history, but also in day to day life, I vote GPO

time is probably up but the Lough gets my vote, beautiful.

GPO is overrated and full of junkies
