Disappointing he didn't dance down the stairs at the beginning. He makes John Bruton seem exciting.

Without massive fines certain people don't care. Spend an hour on a bus, train or Luas and you will see it.

100 % agree unless they make it all mandatory and clear enforcement penalties it is all for naught. Might as well fook it down will all the advice just do as you please

That's down to DNR and doctors making the right decision in the best interests of the patient.

My MIL caught Covid back in April. When she went to hospital she was put in a room and the lights turned off with someone checking in on her a few times a day to see if she had died yet, no matter how you dress that up that is totally inhumane, we treat animals better than that.
I guess they never thought she would make it home to tell her family how she had been treated, it took her 10 weeks to recover and recover she did mainly due to her stubbornness and will to live as apposed to how she was cared for.

So that's pretty much all tourism in Ireland dead, 5 days into the Govt's stay and spend scheme was launched - and 3 weeks pushes into middle of the midterm break, so that's a big hit again for hospitality in Ireland

Level 3 was not enforced in Dublin, we will see what happens with the country wide one. Can’t see it being enforced.

The closure of pubs and restaurants in Dublin (except outdoor dining) has had a clear impact in terms of slowing the growth of new cases though.

Absolutely agree with you re staffing. These are the issues the HSE/Government/Nephet should have been working on over the summer, to have in place.

But even taking that into account, there should be nothing stopping getting the beds and structures in place now, because I would think any nurse/doctor would be rather working looking after extra or non critical patients even in one of the above facilities I posted than on a corridor on chairs and trolleys?

Glad you enjoyed that video post from last night shows the amazing hard work that our medical staff are doing in the back ground trying to organize things, they need to be backed up even better by the government.

Some third world countries are dealing with this better than us.

Bahrein is First World ..They are loaded.
Probably have a load of Irish specialist nurses and doctors over there and in the UAE , and being very well paid.
These examples just show separation of infected and non infected which has been done here in Ireland .
What is needed is EXTRA staff for extra ICU beds .

I reckon that plan was mainly to temporarily pacify hospitality sector. We may look out for these little carrots dangling from time to time, when likely the carrot can never be consumed.

Unless people will start staying in hotels within their county? Grand if you're in cork or kerry

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,111 ✭✭✭✭Goldengirl

So do your bit or yes we will increase the Level

    Yes.
Be interesting to see what the result of this is in 2 weeks time .

Some move by Holohan. Threaten level 5 and come away with people being happy with level 3 (the most restrictive countrywide lockdown in the world at the moment).

The thread has been pretty fast-moving over the last couple of days, and I've definitely missed stuff - didn't see anything about the Excel fiasco in the UK. I presume it was mentioned, but if not:

    Beggars belief.

I think this is true. And it will probably be the next step country-wide, or at least wider.

Also, I don't believe this business of NPHET shooting for level 5 and then being "happy" with 3.

I think this level 3 is just to level up the country before they move the really badly infected counties to 4. But even level 5 won’t have the desired effect unless it’s enforced strongly.
The cohort of our society who are selfish and arrogant will continue with that behaviour, and it’s exactly that behaviour that will force us into levels 4 and 5 unless we strongly crack down on it.
